Overview
The Chief Development Officer is responsible for planning, developing, maintaining, and continuously growing a comprehensive private and public multi-channel, multi-audience fundraising program. The ideal leader in this role is intuitive, energetic, organized, and compassionate; has a passion to enhance the mission and vision of Covenant House; and is a skilled and experienced fundraiser. The Chief Development Officer reports to the Chief Executive Officer and is a member of the senior leadership team. Base pay range
$180,000.00/yr - $180,000.00/yr Duties And Responsibilities
Fundraising Leadership: Lead the creation, implementation, and continuous evaluation of the organization’s resource development strategy, including corporate, foundation, and government grants; major and planned giving programs; online strategy (e.g., social media, blogs, and emails); annual events; capital campaign; and peer-to-peer fundraising Prepare and implement an annual fundraising plan comprised of key performance indicators and accompanying strategies, including building infrastructure and processes within the development department designed to create efficiencies and ensure responsiveness to donors and prospects Prospect, identify, and qualify new institutional and individual supporters Support and leverage the site CEO’s engagement in moves management activities Cultivate and solicit supporters to make investments in the organization’s mission Develop and implement creative and customized stewardship plans for support investments Manage volunteers and committees from the corporate and philanthropic community Ensure that the team’s CRM is accurately maintained and produces key performance indicators and revenue reports Create, collect, analyze, and learn from the key performance indicators of staff and the program as a whole Prepare and execute presentations to community groups and civic organizations about Covenant House Organizational Leadership: Work closely with the board development committee to execute the organization’s strategic plan and the development team’s fundraising and communication goals Partner with Covenant House International to implement federation initiatives at the local level (e.g., brand awareness, events, and corporate partnerships) Create and manage the organization’s revenue and expense budget and reforecast Actively participate in senior leadership meetings and executive leadership meetings Ensure compliance in accordance with specific city, state, and federal guidelines Participate in other site programs and activities as required Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with coworkers on other teams, supervisor, representatives of other agencies, the board, and the public Respond in a timely manner to emergencies and resolve issues Staff Leadership: Recruit, hire, onboard, lead, manage, retain, and grow a highly effective development team Work with the development team to ensure that all supporters are properly managed in a timely manner through a best-in-class moves management portfolio process Experience And Skills
Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Business Administration, Communications, Human Services, or related field At least ten years of direct fundraising experience across multiple public and private channels, or other relevant senior revenue-generating experience at a larger scale Experience managing a team of at least three staff members for at least three years, acting as a strategic leader and hands-on mentor Proven track record of soliciting six- and seven-figure gifts from individuals and institutions Experience with developing operations and cross-team collaboration, especially with Finance and Program teams Experience supporting a CEO to be an excellent fundraiser Ability to use data to inform strategies, investments, decisions, and innovations in fundraising Comfort working within a federated organizational system Public speaking skills and relationship-centered leadership Commitment to Covenant House mission and the youth served Valid driver’s license with an insurable driving record Love fundraising Benefits
