The University of Virginia's Faculty and Employee Assistance Program (F EAP ), part of UVA Human Resources , is hiring an Employee Assistance Consultant. This entry-level role is a great opportunity for early-career behavioral health professionals to build clinical skills while supporting the well-being of UVA employees and community partners.
F EAP provides confidential counseling, assessment, referral, training, and critical incident response services. We help faculty, staff, their families, and community partners strengthen both personal well-being and organizational health, while promoting workplace wellness and resilience. Our team-based approach ensures employees receive high-quality, professional support tailored to individual and organizational needs.
Responsibilities Deliver intake, assessments, short-term counseling, and referrals. Participate in case consultation and complete clinical documentation. Assist with intake coverage, scheduling, and general operations. Support F EAP 's education, outreach, and promotional events. Participate in F EAP 's after-hours on-call rotation following training. Uphold professional, ethical, and organizational standards in all work. This role is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career behavioral health professional looking to apply clinical skills in a workplace setting.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree in mental health, social work, or related field preferred. Two years of relevant experience. Relevant and preferred experience may include: Internship or practicum in a behavioral health or EAP setting Experience in employee well-being, critical incident response, or workplace training Preferred Qualifications
Exposure to intake assessments, short-term counseling, and referrals during training or prior experience Familiarity with clinical documentation standards and confidentiality requirements (e.g., HIPAA) Foundational clinical skills with a desire to grow in the EAP field Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to engage diverse individuals and groups Effective organization, time management, and documentation skills Comfort balancing clinical and operational responsibilities Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation after training Team-oriented mindset with openness to learning and development The anticipated hiring range is $58,000 - $65,000, commensurate with education and experience . This position is based in Charlottesville, VA, and is eligible for a hybrid work schedule in accordance with UVA's remote work guidelines. Occasional travel to UVA and community worksites is required , and the role includes participation in an after-hours on-call rotation following onboarding. This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
