Job Title: Dishwasher/Utility Worker
Job Summary:
The Dishwasher/Utility Worker is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen, ensuring that all dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment are properly cleaned and sanitized. This role also supports various kitchen operations by assisting with food prep, maintaining supplies, and ensuring that the kitchen is organized and efficient.
Key Responsibilities:
Dishwashing and Cleaning:
Wash dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and other kitchen equipment by hand or using dishwashing machines.
Ensure all items are properly cleaned, sanitized, and stored in designated areas.
Keep the dishwashing area clean and organized, adhering to safety and health standards.
Kitchen Maintenance and Cleanliness:
Clean and sanitize floors, walls, counters, and kitchen equipment as needed.
Take out trash and dispose of waste properly.
Assist with maintaining the kitchen’s cleanliness during service hours.
Food Preparation Assistance:
Help with basic food prep tasks, including washing and peeling vegetables, cutting fruits, or preparing ingredients.
Restock kitchen supplies as needed.
Equipment Maintenance:
Ensure all kitchen equipment is working properly; notify the supervisor of any equipment malfunctions.
Maintain clean, organized storage areas for kitchen tools, cleaning supplies, and dry goods.
Safety and Sanitation Compliance:
Follow all safety, sanitation, and food handling protocols.
Ensure all kitchen safety standards are met, including wearing appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment) when necessary.
Additional Duties:
Assist with the unloading and storage of deliveries.
Support other kitchen staff in performing additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
No formal education is required, but previous experience in a kitchen or restaurant setting is a plus.
Experience with dishwashing equipment and basic food prep is preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Strong attention to detail and cleanliness.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry heavy loads (e.g., boxes, dish racks).
Capable of standing, bending, and reaching for extended periods.
Comfortable working in hot, noisy, and busy conditions.
Work Environment:
Work in a kitchen environment with exposure to heat, water, and cleaning chemicals.
Must be able to work during peak hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
