It is imperative to identify availability improvements & opportunities across Microsoft datacenters. This goal will continually allow our operational cloud to scale in a safe, secure, and reliable manner for our customers.

The Site Transition Program Manager (STP) will support a strategic program within Microsoft's Core Datacenter Services, designed to build the foundation for consistent operations, so that new sites and teams don't have to invent processes from scratch, they're handed a ready-made playbook to enable them to achieve Day 1 Operational Readiness.

This role is open for one of the following locations -Redmond, WA, Phoenix, AZ, Atlanta, GA, Virginia , VA, Des Moines, IA, Mount Pleasant, WI, or Chicago, IL.

This role is for fully remote work.

Responsibilities

Align with Microsoft's culture, objectives and Datacenter Operational policies and standards.

Deliver an effective, new site transition and onboarding program to achieve site & operational readiness.

Manage programs associated with operational readiness.

Obtain a clear understanding of Microsoft's day-to-day operation, management and maintenance expectations for all critical plant, equipment, controls, and processes including (but not limited to), operating procedures, standards, change management and Drills.

Develop and continuously improve documentation to support global site transitions.

Elicit and translate cross-functional stakeholder requirements into actionable program deliverables.

Evolve operational excellence with key focus areas of risk management, uptime availability and safety.

Drive global governance by establishing and enforcing consistent standards, processes, and controls across regions.

Establish methodologies and metrics to validate program compliance and measure performance.

Build strong working relationships and engagement with our Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) teams, key partners and Landlords.

Establish operational representation through design, build, commissioning and turnover project phases, as required.

Create an environment to promote learning and innovation opportunities.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

5+ years technical engineering experience.

Doctorate Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience

OR Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience

OR Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years technical engineering experience

OR 12+ years relevant technical engineering experience.

Experience transitioning over from construction to Data Center Operations. Ability to manage cross functional coordination, understanding both construction and operational requirements.

Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Citizenship & Citizenship Verification

: This position requires verification of U.S. citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions. Specifically, this position supports United States federal, state, and/or local United States government agency customer and is subject to certain citizenship-based restrictions where required or permitted by applicable law. Preferred Qualifications:

Extensive experience working in critical environments.

Proficiency in datacenter or critical environment's mechanical, electrical and control systems.

Understanding of datacenter uptime methodologies or equivalent mission critical facilities.

Experience in datacenter design with a focus on operational design principles.

Proven ability in technical writing and maintaining clear, accurate documentation.

Experience delivering end-to-end programs at a global or regional level.

Experience eliciting and translating cross-functional stakeholder requirements into actionable program deliverables.

Effective communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and leaders to drive program outcomes.

Ability to operate within ambiguous environment and create clarity.

Effective analytical and organizational skills.

Reliability Engineering IC4

- The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
