SUMMARY

The Specialist, Supply Chain (Plant Materials) is a developmental position intended to build the knowledge and leadership skills required for potential future advancement to Materials Supervisor and Materials Manager positions. The Specialist, Materials will participate in a multi-phase rotational program through the plant materials positions, including Customer Service, Purchasing, Shipping and Receiving.

Program structure: Development program duration: 18-24 months Position rotations: 3-9 months each Placement in an open leadership role upon successful completion of the program. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

The Specialist, Supply Chain (Plant Materials) will develop knowledge and skills required to effectively perform all responsibilities across the plant materials department:

Customer Service Coordinator

Plan Summit plant's production utilizing the Heijunka Load Planning tool:

Analyze customer quantity requirements, customer shipment schedules, Summit's current level load plans, production constraints and current part inventory levels utilizing Heijunka Load Planning tool. Confirm or adjust production plans to ensure customer requirements are achieved 100% on-time to schedule while maintaining inventory levels within targeted range. Issue daily production instruction to manufacturing using Heijunka Load Sheets. Communicate closely with the materials manager, purchasing team and manufacturing team to confirm that production plan adjustments are achievable.

Fulfill customer requirements in compliance with Summit procedures and customer requirements:

Function as primary source of contact with customers for production customer contacts regarding customer requirements, shipments, constraints and shortages. Receive and review daily customer requirements (EDI releases & forecasts). Create and adjust shipment bill of ladings and other required documents for each shipment based on customer requirements and schedules for each shipment. Provide instruction to shipping department for adjustments to shipment requirements, including from where added parts are to be collected, and to where reduced parts are to be moved. Complete daily customer-required communications and transmissions of shipments, including ASN's, container reports, etc. Record and file documentation following completion of shipment. Escalate issues and concerns related to customer order fulfillment to customer service supervisor, materials manager and other plant managers and participate in resolving issues.

Build and demonstrate expert level knowledge in customer delivery system requirements:

On-line customer portals (Ford eDDL, Stellantis SMART, GM Supply Power, etc). Customer label requirements. Customer documentation requirements. Logistics requirements. Engineering revision level.

Monitor and react to all customer MP&L communications and bulletins. Respond to and escalate customer requests (capacity studies, supplier constraints, trade/environmental compliance documents, etc.). Identify, communicate and coordinate new program/launch and engineering change requirements seen in customer forecasts, releases and "launch screens" to ensure requirements are met. Follow end of production "balance out planning" procedures to minimize obsolete finished goods, in-process components, purchased goods and raw material inventory. Monitors and ensures successful achievement of customer delivery scorecard objectives.

When warranted, develops and submits timely disputes to customer issued delivery problem reports, premium freight claims, etc.

Purchasing Coordinator

Create and maintain accurate production purchase orders to vendors in compliance with Summit's Master Vendor Parts database information (price & terms):

Communicate approved purchase orders and changes to vendors.

Plan Summit's plant procurement of production purchased goods and raw materials:

Accurately populate and maintain key data in the Kanban Database, including daily usage, ship frequency, shipment lead time, minimum order quantity, packaging information, material storage addresses and safety days required. Select the appropriate number of kanbans and reorder quantity to optimize each purchased part to ensure supply meets requirements while achieving low inventory targets. Maintain kanban reorder boards on the production floor in compliance with KBDB. Perform daily review of reorder boards and collect "triggered" kanbans to order. Perform physical inventory counts frequently to validate accuracy of CMS data and kanban utilization. Place orders to assigned vendors.

Communicate planning and delivery requirements to vendors:

Perform weekly MRP process to convert customer requirements and Summit production plans to corresponding requirements of purchased goods and raw materials. Communicate weekly planning forecast and delivery requirements to all vendors.

Track inbound shipments to ensure on-time delivery and manufacturing requirements are met:

Identify at risk deliveries and coordinate with vendor and logistics to implement countermeasures. Escalate non-conforming deliveries to supervisor/manager and manufacturing.

Enter receipt data for purchased part and raw materials into CMS electronic system.

Verify accuracy of receiving documents to actual receipts and enter receipts daily. Address receiving discrepancies with vendors.

Coordinate countermeasures to vendor quality or delivery issues with materials manager, quality and manufacturing to ensure production requirements are met. Coordinate all new program, new part or program launch purchased parts or raw material releases to ensure requirements are achieved. Follow end of production "balance out planning" procedures to minimize obsolete purchased part and raw material inventory. Maintains supplier performance data, including issuing supplier violations in response to late deliveries, launch problems, missing documentation, etc. Shipping

Physical fulfillment of customer shipments:

Coordinate and communicate with customer service and manufacturing to ensure shipments are complete prior to shipment window times. Follow Summit procedures and customer requirements to ensure accuracy and completeness of every shipment. Supervise material handler's loading of trucks to ensure compliance with personnel and product safety and procedural requirements. Coordinate and communicate with customer service when shipment is complete to ensure final shipment documentation is accurate and ASN's are transmitted on time.

Dock audit supervision:

Supervise dock audit area to ensure safety of personnel and product, timely flow of product through dock auditors and material handlers, respond to bottlenecks, quality rejections, and other issues that arise on the dock audit. Supervise material handler activities on the dock audit to ensure procedures are followed (quality approval before moving, master label processing, scanning product to ship lanes, moving product to ship lanes, marking product on ship tally, moving product to safety or buffer).

Buffer & Safety area supervision:

Ensure compliance of warehouse racking and stacking to safety standards. Ensure 5S compliance of product in buffer and safety. Ensure compliance to buffer & safety withdrawal logs and approvals. Ensure rotation of buffer and safety product meets plan.

Receiving

Physical receipt and delivery of purchased goods and raw materials:

Supervise material handler's unloading loading of trucks to ensure compliance with personnel and product safety and procedural requirements. Ensure accurate verification of part numbers and quantity of parts received and sign-off receiving paperwork only after verification. Note any discrepancies on receiving paperwork and notify purchasing coordinator immediately. Coordinate with quality team members to complete receiving inspection process. Affix kanban cards onto incoming product. Move purchased goods and raw materials to designated storage locations. Move purchased goods to point of use for manufacturing following andon signals or request from manufacturing team.

Additional Duties and Development :

Complete leadership development training. Lead internal plant preparation for Corporate Materials Audits. Lead training programs for coordinators and material handlers. Assist in monthly Level Load Planning and weekly validation activities. Monitor and manage premium freight budget both inbound and outbound. Monitor and manage expendable packaging variance to budget and facilitate customer claims. Participate in company programs (e.g., communications, job training, vacation scheduling). Participate in continuous improvement projects in the materials department. Perform special projects and assignments as directed. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

College degree in supply chain management, business or related degree required. 2 - 5 years of equivalent experience in a supply chain function within an automotive manufacturing environment. SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Outstanding leadership, team building, coaching, and decision making abilities and interest in pursuing a management career. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interface with the customers and plant teammates. Analytical and problem solving skills. Experience in the CMS/AS400 ERP system is a plus. A minimum score of 50 on the Wonderlic Select Assessment (Traditional Score of 26 on the cognitive portion).
