Overview
The University of Minnesota Medical School Department of Dermatology in Minneapolis seeks outstanding applicants for a faculty position focused on skin immunology. Candidates with a research focus in inflammation, inflammatory dermatoses, immuno-oncology, immune checkpoint biology and novel therapeutics development are encouraged to apply. Candidates are expected to have postdoctoral training, track record of scholarship and history of successful grant funding. Successful candidates are expected to have and/or obtain independent, externally funded, and sustainable scholarly research program. Evidence of conducting rigorous and innovative research and a track record of publications is required. The candidate will participate in Department of Dermatology faculty and research activities, teach medical students as well as residents. This position is posted as Assistant Professor rank. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications, education, and experience based on the University of Minnesota Medical School faculty pay scales. Successful candidate will spend 20% of effort clinically - seeing Dermatology patients in an outpatient setting. Some of that time will be spent teaching residents and medical students. 80% of effort will be spent in a research setting - overseeing the development and completion of research projects; writing new grant proposals to secure independent funding; preparing manuscripts for publication. The campus provides excellent state of the art core facilities for biomedical research. The Genomics Center and Imaging Center at University of Minnesota boast the top-of-the-line novel spatial proteogenomics technology from Ionpath, 10X Genomics and Nanostring. Responsibilities
Responsibilities span clinical, teaching, and research activities: Clinical: spend 20% effort seeing Dermatology patients in an outpatient setting, with some time allocated to teaching residents and medical students. Research: spend 80% effort in overseeing development and completion of research projects, writing new grant proposals to secure independent funding, and preparing manuscripts for publication. Qualifications
Required Qualifications: A PhD, MD, MD/PhD or equivalent in relevant research areas. The candidate should be certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Dermatology. Preferred Qualifications: Training in basic/translational immunology with a focus on inflammatory skin conditions or immuno-oncology Experience as a principal investigator developing grant proposals with evidence of success at obtaining research funding Experience with novel techniques such as spatial transcriptomics, organoids, multiplex quantitative immunofluorescence, multicolor flow cytometry, single cell sequencing Excellent communication skills demonstrated by presentations Evidence of research excellence through awards, presentations and/or publications Evidence of multidisciplinary collaborations Active clinical license to practice Dermatology Pay and Benefits
This role is dually employed by University of Minnesota Physicians and the University of Minnesota. Total salary is market competitive and based on benchmarks. The clinical salary, aligned with clinical effort, is provided through M Physicians. The base salary range for this position is 411,930 to 593,217 USD, commensurate with experience and academic effort. The salary from the University is dependent on the academic effort of the person hired.
