Quality Inspector - 1st Shift
Location:
Harwood Heights, IL Salary:
$24-$28/hr, depending on experience 6 months Contract-to-hire
We are seeking a
hands-on Quality Inspector
for a precision aerospace machining operation. This isn't a receiving-level role - we need someone who knows
machine shop inspections inside and out
and can hit the ground running.
What You'll Do:
Perform in-process and final inspections using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, profilometers, optical comparators, and other precision tools.
Read and interpret blueprints and routers, applying basic GD&T (flatness, perpendicularity, parallelism).
Document inspection results by hand with full traceability and attention to detail.
Coordinate and oversee
gauge calibration , both internally and with external services.
Work independently in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment while ensuring every part meets exacting aerospace standards. What We're Looking For:
2+ years of hands-on inspection experience in a machining environment (2-3 years OK if competent and moldable).
Proficient with precision measuring tools and comfortable measuring down to 0.0001".
Knowledge of GD&T and ability to select the right tool for each inspection.
Experience coordinating or managing
calibration processes .
High School Diploma or GED. Nice-to-Haves:
Aerospace, medical, or automotive machining background.
Experience in both in-process and final inspections.
Familiarity with ISO-certified environments.
Shift & Hours:
1st Shift, 6:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m. (with optional OT)
