Calibration Technician (Contract-to-Hire)
Location: Harwood Heights, IL Pay: $21–$26/hour | 1st Shift | Contract-to-Hire
About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented
Calibration Technician
to join a precision manufacturing team on
1st shift . This is a
contract-to-hire
opportunity with long-term potential and great advancement opportunities.
The Calibration Technician will be responsible for performing
receiving, in-process, and final inspections
on high-precision components. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to interpret blueprints and GD&T, and proficiency with inspection tools. For the first 6–12 months, the focus will primarily be on receiving inspections, verifying certifications, and reviewing technical documentation.
Key Responsibilities
Perform receiving, in-process, and final inspections of precision parts.
Use micrometers, calipers, indicators, optical comparators, and surface plate tools.
Verify that incoming materials match certification documents and specifications.
Review and approve material and special process certifications.
Document inspections, non-conformities, and quality issues in the ERP system.
Maintain accurate inspection records and traceability data.
Interpret and apply GD&T requirements from engineering drawings.
Operate CMMs when needed (experience ).
Qualifications
Must-Have:
High School Diploma or GED.
2–5+ years of quality inspection or calibration experience in a manufacturing environment.
Proficiency with precision inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges, indicators).
Hands-on experience with GD&T and blueprint interpretation.
Strong attention to detail when working with certification paperwork.
Experience documenting inspections and using ERP systems.
Nice to Have:
Aerospace or high-precision machining industry experience.
Experience with CMMs or automated inspection equipment.
Schedule & Compensation
Hours:
6:00 AM – 2:30 PM (OT available, up to 10 hours/week; early 5:00 AM start optional).
Pay:
$21–$26/hour (based on experience).
Type:
Contract-to-Hire (6 months prior to conversion).
Start Date:
ASAP (note: company shuts down Dec 20 – Jan 2; unpaid time off for new hires during this period).
