Summary:
The Lead Sterile Processing Technician is crucial in managing the daily operations of the Sterile Processing Department (SPD). This role involves maintaining accurate documentation of all activities and ensuring efficient supply flow to approximately 30 Nursing Units and Clinics. You will oversee the multi-shift scheduling for a team of 3 to 6 associates, while also providing support and assistance to the manager.
Responsibilities:

Plan, organize, direct, and manage daily tasks within the SPD, collaborating with Charge Nurses and Clinical Managers on departmental decisions, budgeting, and safety protocols.
Participate in the recruitment process for new Sterile Processing Technicians.
Provide orientation for new staff and ongoing educational support to ensure their success.
Monitor compliance with sterilization procedures according to AMI guidelines and Ambulatory Surgery Center Policy.
Develop and implement department procedures aligned with organizational standards to ensure quality patient care.
Supervise adherence to sterilization protocols as detailed in AMI Guidelines.
Process instruments according to manufacturer guidelines effectively.
Coordinate Sterile Processing services with other departments, exploring innovative solutions to enhance efficiency and reduce costs, and meeting with users to promote standardization for better vendor pricing.
Maximize the quality and quantity of products, equipment, and services relative to the funds expended.
Demonstrate the competence to fulfill assigned responsibilities while addressing the specific and developmental needs of all patients served.
Collaborate with Charge Nurses for effective staff scheduling and assignments.
Adapt assessment, treatment, and service methods to meet the unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, and developmental needs of each patient.
Job Requirements:
Education/Skills
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience
2 to 4 years of experience in Central Supply or Sterile Processing preferred.
Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications
IAHCSMM Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) or Certified Registered Central Sterile Tech (CRCST) required.
