Description Summary: The Sterile Processing Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the highest quality of decontamination, cleaning, and sterilization of surgical instruments and reprocessable equipment, including endoscopes, for the Perioperative Department. This position also involves coordinating functions within the department and collaborating with other departments and resources. Responsibilities: Fulfill the expectations of OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders. Serve as the liaison between SPD, Perioperative Services, Labor and Delivery, and various Nursing Units. Provide input for adjustments in PAR levels, including additions, changes, and deletions. Conduct periodic physical inventories of Floor Stock and SPD to maintain accuracy and integrity. Understand and instruct colleagues in the operation of inventory control devices, such as scanners and bar code readers. Assist newly assigned Floor Stock associates in all aspects of SPD responsibilities. Ensure adherence to sound inventory control practices including stock rotation and custody management. Demonstrate competency in performing client care responsibilities tailored to the age-specific and developmental needs of all patients served. Adapt client assessment and care methods to accommodate the unique needs of each individual. Establish and follow written policies for decontaminating, reprocessing, caring for, and packaging instruments and equipment used in patient care. Possess knowledge and responsibility for infection control procedures related to instrument and equipment reprocessing. Adhere to sterilization protocols as outlined in the Sterilization Reference Manual. Lead implementation and monitoring of quality control programs. Participate in reviewing and revising the Quality Improvement plan to ensure compliance with hospital procedures and standards of care. Engage in continuing education, both formal and informal. Perform additional activities as assigned. Job Requirements: Education/Skills High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Experience 1 - 2 years of experience in sterile processing preferred. Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications IAHCSMM Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) or Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician required. Work Schedule: TBD Work Type: Per Diem As Needed
