Construction Equipment Operator:

$25-$40 per hour (dependent on experience level, ability to read drawings and direct a small crew on site work).

Job Overview:

The Equipment Operator will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of equipment, such as excavators, skid-steers, backhoes, trenchers, augers, and trench rollers. The operator must be willing to learn the processes of installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical duct banks, concrete pads, pole bases and other electrical site related work. This role may require you to be out of the equipment helping the ground crew with elevations and grades. Sites include Gaithersburg, Silver Spring, Manassas, Baltimore, Towson.

The ideal candidate must have prior experience working with construction equipment, possess a valid driver's license, and be able to work efficiently and safely in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

Operate equipment to perform various tasks, such as digging trenches, moving materials, and proper backfill.

Have a base knowledge of transit/ laser level use when it comes to elevations and grades.

Assist the team with the installation of conduit, concrete forms, pole base forms, wire pulls and other tasks to complete the electrical site work.

Properly inspect and maintain equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.

Interpret blueprints and diagrams to determine the location of utility lines and layout of excavations.

Follow all safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.

Assist with the loading and unloading of equipment and materials.

Report any equipment malfunctions or damage to the supervisor.

Adhere to all company policies and regulations.

Complete required safety trainings as needed.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Minimum of 5 years of experience operating heavy equipment in a construction or utility setting.

Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

CDL class A or ability to attain one.

Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and diagrams.

Excellent and precise equipment control.

Physically fit and able to perform manual labor.

Attention to detail and a strong work ethic.

Team player with excellent communication skills.

Working Conditions:

This position requires working outdoors in various weather conditions.

Must be able to handle heavy equipment, tools, and materials.

May have to work at different job sites and travel if needed.

Regularly lift and move up to 40 pounds.
