Job Summary The Philanthropy Officer is a key member of the Sno-Isle Libraries Foundation team and partners in the development and execution of the Foundations annual and long-term fundraising goals in alignment with its strategic priorities. The main areas of focus for this position are major and planned giving, grant research and writing, and corporate giving. As the fundraising partner of Sno-Isle Libraries, the mission of the Sno-Isle Libraries Foundation is to mobilize people and resources to expand the reach of library services, promote civic engagement, and foster a lifetime of learning. The Foundation is a separate 501C3 nonprofit organization governed by its own Board of Directors. It secures philanthropic support from the community and advocates in support of the library. This position works closely with the Foundation Executive Director on identifying and cultivating prospective donors and funders. The successful candidate is an experienced, collaborative, and self-motivated fundraising professional with a passion for donor engagement and public libraries. This position requires some evening and weekend hours. This position is eligible for hybrid work (onsite and remote), compliant with Sno-Isle Libraries remote work policies and subject to the approval of the positions supervisor. Employees must reside in Washington State and be within a reasonable distance to report to their Sno-Isle Libraries worksite in person as needed. Assist the Foundation Executive Director in implementing the Foundations annual fundraising plan and strategies to grow contributed revenue from individual, corporate and institutional funders to meet a broad range of needs in alignment with organizational priorities. Develop multi-faceted solicitation and stewardship strategies and cultivate relationships with individuals, foundations and corporations to deepen their philanthropic support of Sno-Isle Libraries. Implement donor analytics and data strategies to track fundraising performance and move donors up the giving ladder, including setting multi-year revenue goals, measuring and reporting on progress, and adjusting work plan as needed to meet goals. Implement and oversee a donor recognition program. Manage the Foundations Legacy Giving program, including the promotion of FreeWill, coordination of estate planning webinars, and the engagement of Legacy donors and prospects. Research, identify, and apply for grants and other funding opportunities in alignment with programming priorities. Create and submit grant reports and oversee the Foundations grants tracker. Partner with relevant Library staff to obtain input on grant proposals and reports. Secure funding from corporations and businesses for programs, initiatives, and events, including solicitation, fulfillment, and relationship management. Additional Duties and Responsibilities Support existing and new Foundation campaigns, activities, and projects. Champion and represent the Foundation at community events and functions. Support the Foundations marketing, communications, and events. Attend and actively participate on Foundation committees. Attend interdepartmental meetings, trainings, and workshops to support learning and development. Train new staff and volunteers as needed. Perform other duties as required. Supervision This position reports to the Foundation Executive Director. Supervision is not a regular part of this position. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Excellent verbal, written, communications, analytical, and research skills. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with donors, board members, coworkers, volunteers, and the community-at-large. Thorough knowledge of established nonprofit and fundraising practices and procedures. Strong grant research, writing and management experience with a track record of securing and stewarding grants from foundations and corporations. Thorough knowledge of donor Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) software and maintenance. Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with sensitive information. Ability to uphold the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace and the community. Ability to work independently and to set priorities in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities. Ability to apply project management principles to organize and prioritize work, be proactive, take initiative, follow through, and simultaneously manage multiple priorities with strong attention to detail. Ability to solve problems and respond in a calm and reasonable manner in all situations. Ability to comprehend and interpret instructions, correspondence, and memos; ask clarifying questions to ensure understanding and minimize misunderstandings. Ability to remain flexible and be comfortable working in a dynamic environment that may involve ambiguity and politically sensitive issues. Ability to work under stress with distractions and to meet deadlines with minimal supervision. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams. Experience with or willingness to gain working knowledge of WordPress, Canva, Photoshop, and other platforms and software as needed. Education and Experience Knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position can be acquired by a combination of experience and education including: Bachelors degree in nonprofit management, communications, business, or equivalent work experience. 3+ years of experience in fundraising, including donor relations, cultivation, prospect research, and grant writing. Experience in planning and executing successful fundraising projects that involve multiple dimensions and stakeholders. Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the necessary qualifications to successfully perform the duties of the position will be considered. Physical and Environmental Conditions The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a staff member to perform the essential functions of this job successfully.
