Job Title: Mammography Technologist Profession: Radiology / Cardiology Specialty: Mammography Tech Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: 1 year of full-time mammography experience strongly preferred License: Active license required Certifications: BLS, ARRT Must-Have: - Proficiency in diagnostic and screening mammograms - Ability to float to other campuses - Working knowledge of breast anatomy and radiographic exposure factors Description: This role involves performing a variety of radiological technical procedures specific to the diagnosis and treatment of breast disease in a high volume outpatient setting. The technologist is responsible for producing high quality radiographic images while interacting with all patients in a caring and comforting manner. They are jointly responsible for performing required quality control activities as mandated by the Mammography Quality Standards Act and the FDA. The position includes performing 3-D mammography, diagnostic mammograms, fine needle aspirations, needle localizations, screening mammograms, and stereotactic biopsy. The technologist must have the ability to accurately produce high quality diagnostic mammographic images. They will perform related special procedures alongside physician staff. The role requires knowledge of various x-ray equipment and associated applications, specifically in mammography and processing units. All new technologists must have 25 exams observed by another technologist before working independently. The patient age group includes adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. The department operates Monday through Friday from 7 am to 5 pm and Saturday from 8 am to 4:30 pm.
