Job Title: Vascular Interventional Radiologic Technologist Profession: Tech Specialty: Radiology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 36.00 Experience: Minimum Years of Experience: Required Skills & Experience: - Capacity to learn and retain information regarding patient care and procedures. - Ability to communicate effectively, follow directions, and complete detailed work accurately. - Demonstrates compassion and caring in dealing with others. - Manual dexterity to handle small supplies. License: - IEMA Radiography License - Radiography (R) Certifications: - BLS (American Heart Association) - ACLS (American Heart Association) Must-Have: - Experience in peripheral vascular work - Experience with venous central lines - Experience with tube changes - Experience with embolization work (arterial/venous) - Experience with venous thrombectomy work Description: Administers contrast material as per physician's request through existing vascular access points. Recognizes and responds to hypersensitivity or allergic reactions. All functions will be under the direct supervision of a physicist or dosimetrist. Assists with inventory and supplies. Checks for correct patient and chart identification, diagnosis, and treatment position. Compiles pertinent clinical information related to lab and pathology. Assists in the instruction of new staff as necessary. Documents accurately and completely according to established policies and procedures. Explains procedures to patients and provides for their comfort, support, safety, and confidentiality. Performs all essential functions of the Radiologic Technologist. Performs on-call duties and/or variable shifts as assigned to meet department needs. Maintains a sterile field during procedures. Assesses patients for allergies and administers or withholds contrast and treatment as appropriate. Can pull supplies for procedures. Takes on-call within 6 months. Engages in cardiac cath lab work including left heart cath, with/without coronary stenting, right heart cath, and vascular access. Participates in structural heart procedures including TAVR, Watchman, Mitraclip, Triclip, ASD/PFO, and CardioMEMs. Involved in hybrid peripheral vascular work in coordination with vascular surgery including EVAR, TCAR, and TEVAR. Utilizes adjunctive tools to complete the above procedures including but not limited to ICUS, FFR/iFR, Lithotripsy, Laser, Rota, Impella, IABP, OCT, and CTO. Experience with interventional neurology is preferred. Previous Radiologic Technology experience in a procedural setting is a plus.
