Job Title: Vascular Interventional Radiologic Technologist Profession: Tech Specialty: Radiology Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 10 Experience: Minimum years of experience not specified License: IEMA Radiography License Certifications: - BLS (American Heart Association) - ACLS (American Heart Association) - Radiography (R) (ARRT) Must-Have: - Associate's Degree in Related Field or Certificate in Radiologic Technology Description: Administers contrast material, when applicable, according to physician's request, by means of existing vascular access point. Recognizes and responds to hypersensitivity or allergic reactions. All functions and duties will be under the direct supervision of a physicist or dosimetrist. Assists with inventory and supplies. Checks for correct patient and chart identification, diagnosis, and treatment position. Compiles pertinent clinical information pertaining to lab, pathology, etc. Assists in the instruction of new staff as necessary. Documents accurately and completely according to established policies and procedures. Explains procedures to patients and provides for patient care, including comfort, support, safety, and confidentiality. Performs all essential functions of the Radiologic Technologist. Performs on-call duties and/or works variable shifts as assigned to meet department needs. Able to work around and maintain a sterile field during procedures. Administers and withholds contrast and treatment as appropriate. Assesses patients for allergies. Can pull supplies for procedures. Must take call within six months. Involves Cardiac Cath Lab work including left heart catheterization, with or without coronary stenting, right heart catheterization, pericardiocentesis, and vascular access under sterile procedure. Handles structural heart procedures including TAVR, Watchman, Mitraclip, Triclip, ASD/PFO, and CardioMEMs. Involves hybrid peripheral vascular work in coordination with vascular surgery including EVAR, TCAR, and TEVAR. Utilizes adjunctive tools to complete procedures, including but not limited to ICUS, FFR/iFR, Lithotripsy, Laser, Rota, Impella, IABP, OCT, and CTO. Required Skills and Experience: Capacity to learn and retain information regarding patient care and procedures. Ability to communicate effectively, follow directions, and complete detailed work accurately. Demonstrates compassion and caring when dealing with others. Possesses manual dexterity to handle small supplies. Preferred Skills and Experience: Previous Radiologic Technology experience in a procedural setting. Department-Specific Skills and Experience: Able to work around and maintain a sterile field during procedures. Can pull supplies for procedures. Experience with Interventional Client is preferred.
