Job Title: Radiology Interventional Technologist Profession: Radiology Interventional Technologist Specialty: - Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 0800-1630 Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Minimum 3 years previous experience, Previous experience in a Trauma Level 1 facility, Cath Lab experience License: Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) Certifications: Must maintain a Healthcare Provider certification (BLS) Must-Have: Required Education - High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required. Must maintain required hours of continued medical education. Description: Under the direction of a Radiologist, this position specializes in the performance of procedures of an invasive nature to aid in the evaluation of pathological entities as prescribed by a physician. Explains examination procedures to patients and prepares them for the examination. Obtains additional information about the patient's medical history as necessary. Prepares prescribed contrast media, medications, and IV solutions for administration to patients. Reviews clinical data on requisition and analyzes anatomical structure of the patient. Sets up equipment and assists the Radiologist in performing complex diagnostic invasive procedures following protocols. Prepares and sets up sterile equipment, physiological monitors, pressure injectors, and imaging equipment required for the procedure. Ensures that adequate supplies such as needles and catheters are on hand and properly stored. Replenishes supplies as appropriate. Actively assesses the patient's condition before, during, and following all procedures. Manually controls the equipment to obtain the proper diagnostic information for the area of the body being studied. May assist with the training of new personnel and/or students who are assigned to the division. Performs all imaging procedures while demonstrating the principles of radiation protection. Resolves image exceptions and ensures high-quality image delivery into the system. Completes all study indexing within the Radiology Information System, including study begin, study end, and completion of the study. Reviews and confirms clinical protocols as necessary with the Radiologist before performing a study. Demonstrates on a consistent basis standards of excellence, including open communication and a positive attitude. Performs Quality Assurance procedures as appropriate. Documents in the medical record as necessary to support all clinical functions. Utilizes independent judgment in determining appropriate imaging techniques, patient positioning, and safety practices.
