The Core Tax Services (CTS) Senior Manager – ASC740 is responsible for advising clients on the tax implications of their business objectives, evaluating and selecting alternative actions to lessen tax burden and cost of compliance, identifying different methods of complying with tax regulations while acting as the primary client contact for complex corporate tax and ASC 740 tax issues. The CTS Senior Manager applies knowledge to understand potential tax issues and communicates potential risks and changes in tax policy. The role includes marketing, networking and business development within an area of expertise and may involve providing written tax advice to clients. Job Duties

Tax Compliance Ensures clients comply with applicable authorities while minimizing tax and reporting burdens; ensures firm policies, standards, and the BDO Tax Quality Manual (TQM) are followed Top-level review of tax returns and related issues with client collaboration; involve specialists as needed Communicates issues identified in tax accrual reviews to client and Assurance Plans and reviews the tax process including budgeting, staffing, monitoring engagement progress vs. budget, timely billing and A/R collection Manages client relationships/expectations; provides timely advice Research Identifies research needs; frames issues for research; reports analysis clearly and concisely Outlines complex issues for engagement teams and provides methodology for efficient research Trains managers/staff on research skills and ASC 740 issues; involves firm specialists as appropriate ASC 740 (FKA FAS 109 and FIN 48) Tax Accruals Applies Firm policies and the BDO TQM to ASC 740; explains income tax provision components and uncertain tax positions to client Communicates with Assurance to plan tax accrual reviews (budget, scope, delivery dates) Reviews tax provisions and workpapers; utilize STS as needed Tax Consulting Develops and implements efficient methods to maximize client benefits by reducing current and future taxes Assesses CTS and STS consulting applicability for each client; develops work plans including STS support; serves as technical resource Ensures compliance with Written Tax Advice (WTA) policy; assists with exam support; frames projects for delegation to seniors and associates Tax Specialization Develops deep understanding of technical issues in areas such as corporate, international, state and local, transfer pricing, credits, R&D, etc.; may conduct internal CPE training May train/mentor managers, seniors, and associates on ASC 740 Strategy Development Proposes new or improved ideas to reduce taxes or expenses; may lead marketing campaigns; presents strategies to clients; collaborates with National Tax and STS Other duties as required Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervises associates and senior associates; reviews their work and provides feedback Trains associates on software tools; acts as a Career Advisor; manages workload Provides verbal and written performance feedback Education, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Bachelors degree in Accounting or Taxation, required Masters degree in Accounting or Taxation, preferred Experience

Eight (8) or more years of prior experience, required Experience in preparing and auditing ASC 740 computations for private and publicly traded clients, required Prior supervisory experience, required Multinational client experience, preferred License/Certifications

CPA, Attorney (admitted in a U.S. jurisdiction), or IRS Enrolled Agent (EA) or equivalent required Software

Experience with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat preferred Experience with tax research databases (e.g., BNA, RIA); proficient in tax compliance software (GoFileRoom, GoSystem RS, Caseware, BNA Depreciation Software) or comparable programs preferred Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Superior verbal and written communication skills Ability to delegate effectively Strong analytical, research and critical thinking; able to make decisions Team-oriented; capable of developing and managing a tax professional team Ability to compose written tax advice and maintain client relationships; executive presence for client interactions Individual salaries offered are determined after consideration of qualifications, experience, skills and geography.
