Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician Profession: Tech Specialty: Sterile Processing Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Evening Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: N/A Certifications: N/A Must-Have: - High school diploma or equivalent - Ability to communicate effectively within a multi-functional team - Experience and understanding in the use of computers - Ability to function in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment Description: The position is responsible for assembling, cleaning, disinfecting, sterilizing, and storing procedure trays, surgical trays, and equipment. Also assembles, distributes, and delivers disposable and durable medical equipment, case carts, and supplies to meet the needs of various departments. Operates and monitors sterilization equipment. Disassembles carts and follows Universal Precautions for decontamination. Sterilizes and disinfects durable medical equipment and instruments, packages clean supplies and instruments, maintains records for all instruments, and transports sterilized items. Assembles sterilized instruments and checks all instruments for cleanliness and impairment. Properly checks power equipment. Takes measures to allow for easy instrument tracking, including following labeling processes and reporting all missing instruments. Communicates equipment and instrument inventory status with staff, including order status and changes. Responds to emergency situations by ensuring all emergency, trauma, and add-on cases are properly supplied and delivered in a timely manner. Utilizes applications and technology to accurately facilitate record keeping in accordance with regulations. Provides on-the-job training to newly hired associates in the department. Promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization and abides by service behavior standards. Performs other duties as assigned. May be required to float to other departments based on business needs. May be required to be on-call during regularly scheduled shifts.
