Time Type: Full time | Scheduled Weekly Hours: 37.5 | Work Shift: UR SEIU 024 H

Compensation Range: $18.03 - $24.46 per hour

Responsibilities

  • Provides clerical, receptionist and customer service on patient care units while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Transcribes patient care orders and schedules tests and procedures with other departments; completes and processes requisitions for tests, procedures and equipment.
  • Obtains patient care equipment and/or supplies as requested by nurses and/or physicians; notifies the department of equipment in need of repair.
  • Participates in patient admissions, discharges and transfers; updates patient care forms (e.g., patient census and diet order listing).
  • Greets and receives visitors and staff in a professional manner, provides directions, and delivers courteous and accurate telephone coverage; takes and delivers messages; triages problems to the appropriate person or department.
  • Maintains record of patient location when off unit and communicates with other departments on patient, staff and unit matters; follows directions during emergencies.
  • Orders supplies/forms, ensures their arrival and restocks appropriately.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work environment.
  • Provides assistance on other units as necessary; assists with patient transport as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school education and 1 year of clerical experience, with demonstrated legible writing and verbal communication skills; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and basic computer skills preferred.
