Salary: $70,000-$80,000

The Production Planner is responsible for ensuring manufacturing operations run smoothly, efficiently, and without disruption. This role develops and maintains the weekly production schedule based on customer demand, inventory levels, and resource availability. The position requires strong coordination with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to align capacity, workforce, and material requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) for production planning.
  • Create, update, and monitor the weekly production schedule to meet customer demand and optimize resource use.
  • Coordinate across departments to align machine capacity, staffing, and material requirements.
  • Track progress against the production plan, proactively addressing risks such as material shortages or capacity constraints.
  • Generate stock orders through ERP/MRP systems and confirm requirements with production teams.
  • Conduct product floor checks to estimate dispatch times and identify potential delays.
  • Clearly communicate production priorities and schedule adjustments across all departments.
  • Ensure compliance with Quality Management System (QMS) requirements, including participation in audits and reporting non-conformances.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and documentation.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of progressive experience in production planning, scheduling, or supply chain within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong ERP/MRP experience (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamic).
  • Hands-on collaboration with cross-functional teams in Operations, Quality, Maintenance, and Logistics.
  • Exposure to Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong planning, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables, macros).
  • Familiarity with data visualization platforms.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Team-oriented with leadership ability.
  • Comfortable making decisions and driving accountability.
