The first shift Production Lead at Ajinomoto Tokyo Frozen Noodles is responsible for a production line or area to ensure production schedules are met and company standards and procedures are strictly followed. This person supervises production personnel in meeting daily production requirements and following safety standards and GMPs.

Schedule is Monday - Friday with occasional Saturdays. Starting at 7:00am with flexibility as needed.

Starting pay: $22.00/hour

Position Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure that equipment is properly set up and that all make-ready functions are carried out prior to the start of production. Verify and control standard weights, maintain proper coding and report any substandard equipment problems.
  • Oversee the activities of production team members so that quality, sanitation, safety, production procedures, and scheduling requirements meet standards (including GMPs).
  • Assign work to production employees; follow up on assignments, monitor progress and make task-related decisions to meet quality and schedule requirements.
  • Maintain discipline of employees under their jurisdiction, in accordance with established rules and regulations. Initiate verbal and written warnings and recommend further disciplinary action as required.
  • Prepare reports concerning activities as required on a daily basis and ensure reports are complete and accurate.
  • Monitor and communicate with processors regarding blending of raw material mixes to ensure preparation according to standard formula and maintain consistency. Collaborate on adjustments concerning moisture and texture. Ensure batches of filling are mixed and delivered just-in-time to maintain high batch-to-batch consistency.
  • Monitor production processing records to ensure compliance with company procedures and monitor line performance to standards.
  • Monitor inventory levels three days in advance to ensure scheduled production has needed raw materials available.
  • Ensure proper storage of rework scrap and schedule usage to minimize scrap.
  • Train or delegate training of employees as required. Evaluate skills and performance and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Ensure employees follow all safety procedures.
  • Suggest improvements in production methods, including the use of available personnel.
  • Perform production tasks as necessary in conjunction with the above responsibilities.
  • Keep Production Supervisor/Manager informed of all situations, activities, and deviations from normal operations.
  • Be prepared to gain proficiency quickly when new procedures, equipment, methods, etc., are added or changed.
  • Promote a positive, team-oriented attitude.
  • Maintain communication at shift change regarding situations that may impact production operations.
  • Ensure all company quality standards are maintained.
  • Perform all other work as required.

Position Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 1+ year machine operation experience in a manufacturing environment required
  • 6+ months leadership experience required
  • Basic knowledge of basic math skills
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, ability to effectively train, assign and monitor
  • Basic understanding of HACCP and food safety concepts preferred
