General Statement: The Reuben H. Fleet Science Centers Custodian supports the Fleet Mission and Visitor Experience Philosophy by maintaining and cleaning the building premises including carpets, lighting, hardware, etc.

Reports to: Custodial Supervisor and/or Director of Engineering and Facilities

Responsibilities

• Use carpet extractor.
• Use high speed spin bonnet carpet cleaning machine.
• Sweep, mop, and buff all hard surface floors.
• Clean and service restrooms.
• Clean glass, empty all trash containers, and pick up trash on floor in assigned locations.
• Vacuum lobby, science center, theater, lecture hall, and staff offices.
• Be willing to work evening shifts, some holidays and weekends.
• Responsible to be knowledgeable of safety and emergency plan manual procedures.
• Additional duties as assigned by supervisor and/or manager.

Qualifications

• One year experience in a position which involved customer service and routine cleaning.
• Knowledge of Balboa Park, San Diego Attractions, and the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center extremely helpful.
• Ability to communicate to patrons and staff.
• Ability to work independently.
