Maintenance Tech Class A performs various skilled and semi-skilled tasks in repair and maintenance of machinery, buildings, and equipment. The role involves primary responsibility for proficiency in several trades, with working conditions and supervision levels varying according to the location and nature of assignments.
Responsibilities:
STEP 1
- Know all safety requirements, departmental and plant-wide.
- Maintain departmental 5-S for assigned areas and equipment.
- Complete required departmental paperwork. Have a general knowledge of computer software and maintenance work order systems.
- Perform major overhauls of all equipment, both mechanical and electrical.
- Repair all production and non-production equipment.
- Calibrate electrical controls of all equipment (hot runners, thermolators, barrel heaters, etc.).
- Set up and operate all production equipment.
- Ensure utilities are online for production start-up (cooling towers, air compressors, dryers, oxidizers).
- Train other technicians on proper repair procedures of all equipment.
- Maintain good communication skills.
- Generate proper paperwork to initiate parts order process.
- Perform group leader functions in absence of supervisor.
- Install and repair electrical utilities.
- Repair, teach, and train on technical equipment such as robots, PC controls, and interface devices, including troubleshooting.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of quality and environmental policies and procedures.
Education:
- High school diploma or GED.
Experience:
- 1-2 years of technical training or 2-3 years of on-the-job training, with HVAC experience required.
- Pneumatic and hydraulic experience.
- PLC experience.
Skills:
- Knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and practices in electrical or mechanical areas.
- Ability to detect defects and make proper repairs or adjustments.
- Ability to interpret sketches and prints.
