This position is for a security guard at the New Mexico Behavior Health Institute at Las Vegas (NMBHI), Community Based Services (CBS), and San Miguel/Mora Mental Health Services. The incumbent will have an obligation to manage situations to minimize injury to clients, staff, and visitors, as well as provide security, loss control, and protection.
The responsibilities include conducting searches of new admissions, clients, and visitors to prevent contraband, checking all buildings to ensure they are properly secured, and assisting staff members with combative clients using CPI techniques.
The ideal candidate will have experience in working with fire alarm systems, checking fire extinguishers, and experience with ten-code. The minimum qualification is an eighth-grade education, and the candidate must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License.
The working conditions include both indoor and outdoor settings with exposure to potential hazards, such as dealing with trespassers, vandals, and/or unruly clients. The position may require extended periods of walking and standing.
The New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute is a 100% Tobacco Free/E-Cigarette Free Campus. The position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement, and all terms/conditions of that agreement apply and must be adhered to.
Salary: $16.50 - $24.75 Hourly, $34,320 - $51,480 Annually
