  • Other details: The facility which is stroke-certified and trauma level 3 is looking for a provider to cover on-site clinical hours and beeper call if needed. A APP cardiothoracic surgery locum is needed to provide OR and ICU coverage, with responsibilities including morning rounding and discharges, patient admissions, and occasional patient care in stepdown units. The schedule is 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with call from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., weekend call from Friday 5:00 p.m. to Monday 7:00 a.m., and a call rotation of every third weekday and every fourth weekend. The practice consists of four surgeons and four physician assistants. Procedures performed include robotic lobectomy and thymectomy using the DaVinci Xi system, coronary artery bypass grafting, aortic valve replacement and TAVR, mitral valve repair and replacement, thoracotomy and VATS, LVAD implantation, aortic dissection repair, and ECMO. PA responsibilities include morning rounds and progress notes, medication management, ordering labs and studies, performing consults, histories and physicals, patient discharges, chest tube management and removal, attending multidisciplinary rounds, first assisting in procedures, endoscopic vein and radial harvesting using the Maquet Hemopro 2 Vasoview system, conduit preparation, postoperative order placement, and sternotomy closure. Weekday and weekend call duties include managing late cases, responding to CCU calls, returning for emergencies, rounding with the on-call surgeon, writing progress notes, and discharging patients.
