About the job

The Supervisor, Production directs the daily work of the production team including, but not limited to, hiring, evaluation, discipline and termination. This role is also accountable for production scheduling, adherence to quality standards, directing the cleaning and daily maintenance of equipment, compliance to regulatory requirements and completion of necessary documentation. The normal shift is 40 hours per week in a manufacturing environment. This position may be assigned special projects, as determined by the Manager Production.

Essential Functions

  • Lead the production team to comply with all requirements associated with FDA regulation and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
  • Administer the safety program within the production manufacturing group. Ensure production machinery has all proper safety guards in place and all are properly secured
  • Conduct and/or ensure proper training of all personnel assigned to team, including temporary personnel. Perform quality checks and supervise team to ensure quality production
  • Analyze the inventory levels and work with production scheduler to achieve specified inventory levels for each SKU. Communicate with Purchasing concerning wrapping material inventory levels
  • Manage the planning, logistics and quality control aspects as necessary to achieve timely results
  • Sets and achieves performance standards with regards to safety, line utilization and quality; Track key performance indicators
  • Oversees line equipment functionality to minimize downtime and disruptions
  • Builds capability through effective employee relations, hiring, training, and communication for front-line hourly personnel
  • Ensures compliance with all health & safety regulations
  • Administer policies and procedures
  • This role may operate manufacturing equipment occasionally

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ team leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, including quality inspections, production machinery operations, basic maintenance, and leading a production team of up to 15 individuals
  • A solid foundation in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) is required and must be PC proficient to perform inventory and production data entry functions on a daily basis.
  • Responsible for seeking out appropriate instructions should your knowledge of such laws, regulations or company policies be deficient, as you will be held accountable for your behavior and that of your subordinates. (FDA statement)

  • College education preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
