Fusion Medical Staffing is hiring: PACU RN in Homer

Overview

Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled PACU RN for a 13-week travel assignment in Homer, Alaska. The role involves providing specialized care to patients recovering from anesthesia and surgery, assessing recovery, implementing post-operative care plans, and coordinating with the surgical team.

Responsibilities

• Receive and conduct comprehensive assessments of patients transferring from the operating room and assess their post-anesthesia condition
• Monitor and evaluate patients’ vital signs, level of consciousness, and recovery from anesthesia
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments according to post-anesthesia nursing techniques
• Maintain patient comfort and safety during recovery
• Document assessments, interventions, and recovery progress; notify the care team of significant changes
• Respond to emergencies using PACU standards, policies, and procedures
• Document patient care in medical records
• Develop and deliver individualized patient and family education plans, including discharge instructions
• Collaborate with the surgical team and other providers to ensure comprehensive post-operative care
• Participate in handoffs to ensure continuity of care between OR, PACU, and post-PACU units
• Operate and monitor PACU equipment, such as ventilators, monitors, and infusion pumps
• Perform other duties within the scope of practice as assigned

Qualifications

Required

• One year of recent experience as a PACU RN
• Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
• Current BLS (AHA/ARC) certification
• ACLS (AHA/ARC) certification

Preferred

• PALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPC certifications
• Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position
