Lead Mechanical/Compressor Superintendent

Bechtel is currently executing four large scale multi-train LNG projects across the US Gulf Coast with expansion scopes for each of these projects. Bechtel also has a new multi-train project on the US Gulf Coast starting within two years.
The projects are being performed with an integrated EPC model with construction being executed in a self-perform direct hire manner with specialty subcontractors.
Job Summary
In this role, you will lead a team and supervise superintendents and craft professionals in the installation of gas turbine drivers and refrigerant compressors on a project. You will direct craft professional activities and work schedules, and coordinate subcontract work activities and team development. Major Responsibilities
Oversight of the installation of gas turbine drivers, accessory compartments, ducting, inlet filter housings, and all accessories associated with gas turbine aeroderivative drivers as well as the refrigerant compressors and all accessories associated with the refrigerant compressors. Leadership / Supervision (Discipline Supervision of superintendents supporting 50 to 100 craft or Responsible for Area/Facility) Supervises and directs craft activities, subordinate superintendents, and others, as assigned. Schedules work to be performed, and reviews work accomplished by each craft. Planning / Productivity
Develops work plans and schedules Responsible for maintaining progress and productivity Determines workforce requirements. Coordinates established area operational plans. Tools, Materials & Equipment
Manages the preparation of Field Material Requisitions for tools, equipment and consumables and ensures that the craft professionals have the tools they require to be productive. Safety & Quality
Responsible for keeping work crews safe and executing quality workmanship. Ensures the most current design document is used to complete the work and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation. Ensures assigned construction operations and subcontractors’ performance are in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budgets. Technical
Works with Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals, in interpreting Engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents Collaborates when required with supplier representatives Manages materials of installation onsite Manages engineering solutions with Subcontractors, and Foremen and Craft Professionals. Ensures proper implementation of the Preservation and Preventative Maintenance program. Education And Experience Requirements
Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience Required Knowledge And Skills
Previous experience directly involved with the installation of aeroderivative gas turbine drivers. Previous experience in the levelness checks and grouting of soleplates for API refrigeration compressors. Previous experience directly involved with alignment requirements of gas turbine drivers and refrigerant compressors Previous experience directly involved with the installation of inlet air filter housings, ductwork, enclosures and testing of gas turbine drivers. Previous experience in the planning, installation and final closeout of accessory modules for refrigeration compressors and aeroderivative gas turbine drivers. Knowledge of a single or multi-discipline construction or engineering operation Knowledge of the Project ES&H Handbook, the Supervisors ES&H Manual, the Project Safety Management Plan, the Bechtel Core Processes, and Zero Accident Philosophy Knowledge of the Six Sigma program tools and methodologies. Knowledge of supervisory functions relating to field activities. Knowledge of Bechtel’s Standard Work Process Procedures (SWPPs) Computer literate in Word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications in accordance with current Bechtel Standard Application Program (BSAP) standards. Demonstrated leadership in a team-based environment. Knowledge of the use of subcontracts, and the contractor and subcontractor’s responsibilities contained in subcontract documents Experience working with supervising and administering subcontractors and/or Direct Hire workforce.
