This leadership role is located in Palmdale, CA. Relocation assistance may be available. Travel: 25% of the time. Clearance: Secret. Provide organizational and technical leadership across the Autonomous Collaborative Platform (ACP) portfolio and lead production approaches for intelligent manufacturing, flexible facilities, and low-cost high-rate production. Drive the evolution of production facilities with integrated digital thread, artificial intelligence, automation, and flexible configurations. Evaluate and implement enabling production technologies (e.g., composites fabrication, assembly, automation, inspection, direct part manufacturing, LO technologies) and digital capabilities. Work with consultants, strategic partners, universities, and technical consortia to evaluate technologies for manufacturability of air vehicles at scale and affordability. Guide design concepts, TRL/MRL maturity, and specification requirements to develop affordable manufacturing solutions. Collaborate with ACP teams to influence product definition and assembly strategy, promoting Design for Manufacturing and emerging low-cost processes (e.g., additive manufacturing, unitized composites). Resolve technical challenges in fast-paced, resource-limited environments; develop manufacturing strategies for low-cost high-rate production with emphasis on safety, efficiency, cost, and quality. Integrate new tooling, fabrication, and assembly solutions; champion modular, flexible tooling and lean, repeatable or adaptable processes. Design production layouts to support flexible cell-based or continuous flow manufacturing and evaluate cross-program product line opportunities. Create ramp-up plans covering labor, equipment, facilities, and supplier readiness; understand capital investment requirements and timing. Develop manufacturing processes and digital strategies that provide intuitive work instructions and enable rapid response to production surges; plan hiring, staffing, and training for new techniques within operations functions and locations. Establish a strategic vision for scalable, cost-effective production aligned with business goals; develop roadmaps, perform gap analyses, and evaluate alternatives. Champion deployment and adoption of low-cost high-rate manufacturing across global teams. Monitor industry trends and manufacturing capabilities to maintain technological and cost advantages. Basic Qualifications Must have a Bachelor’s Degree (STEM) with 8 years of related professional/military experience in aviation, systems engineering, aerospace or manufacturing/production OR a Master’s Degree (STEM) with 6 years of related experience. Minimum 6 years of experience leading tasks to schedule, cost, and requirements as a project lead, integrated program team lead, or manufacturing manager. Minimum 6 years of demonstrated success leading teams or organizations to achieve goals. Active DoD Secret security clearance (US Citizenship required) with ability to obtain/maintain Program Special Access. Ability to travel 20-35% of the time. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), cross-functional stakeholders, and customers such as the Air Force and Navy. Experience operating in environments of early development, low rate initial production, and transition to high delivery rates. Experience in low-cost high-rate manufacturing, automotive or aerospace, is highly desired. Proposal experience and involvement in early program lifecycle phases. Strong background in technology portfolio management and advancement of TRL/MRL; familiarity with DoD MRL Deskbook and MRA process. Excellent risk identification and mitigation skills for aerospace technologies. Experience in Design for Manufacturing and developing flexible factories with rapid technology implementation. Experience deploying AI tools for production, digital thread/twin, data integration, and prescriptive tools. Experience developing and deploying automation and composites unitization and bonded assemblies. The application period is typically around 20 days from the posting date, subject to change.
