Develop complete, accurate and up-to-date specifications for up-fit, to best meet the client’s business application(s) and needs. Complete price quotations on vehicle upfit. Offer alternative options based on OEM and supplier limitations, as well as utilizing Holman preferred vendor partners. Research and make recommendations to drive savings, safety improvements, improved client work applications, or other benefits to customer specifications. Maintain technical working knowledge of chassis availability, specifications, and model year changes. Serve as a single point of contact, and resolution, for all vehicle design related questions. Maintain knowledge of vendor capabilities, features, lead times and alternative suppliers. Collaborate with Regional Engineering Manager (REM) to support sales efforts by participating in client/product/up-fit reviews when necessary. Communicate regularly with sales, customers, engineering, suppliers, operations, scheduling and other departments and stakeholders to understand clients’ needs, expectations, and ensure operational efficiency. Responsible for delivering complete, accurate and orderable quotations (chassis and up-fit) to existing and prospective customers. Set pricing for all M&D upfit with input from REM where applicable. Leverage pricing rules and margin standards where applicable. Responsible for upfit profitability. Total ownership of vehicle design. Responsible for accurately noting all parts and pieces required to meet customer expectations on a vehicle design. Give clear direction to manufacturing team who executes on the design. Identify ways to improve the client’s up-fit design to ensure we provide the best price, quality, and safest vehicles they own. Qualifications
6+ years of experience in an automotive or manufacturing environment Experience reading and interpreting electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic schematics Experience with managing multiple projects at the same time Experience supporting railroad builds preferred A bachelor’s degree in relevant fields (including but not limited to engineering, automotive, mathematical) or equivalent experience in commercial truck or up-fitting industries ASE training considered a plus Strong computer skills. Experience with MS Office software. Additional experience with ERP, MRP or BOM management systems a plus. Well versed in all type of commercial vehicles and upfits – cab-chassis, SUV, pickups, vans, electric vehicles, etc. Familiar with all types of commercial upfits – bodies, cranes, hydraulics, van equipment, lighting, etc. Knowledge of design trends and market application (energy, pest control, telecommunications, etc.) Knowledge of OEM facilities, transportation systems and limitations. Ability to run a complete RFP comparing multiple OEMs and aligning up-fit accordingly For up-fit needs outside of Auto Truck capabilities, ability to coordinate and competitively quote multiple vendors Ability to provide analysis and make recommendations for chassis and up-fit solutions including, but not limited to pre-order planning, production capabilities/scheduling, chassis routing, etc. Willingness to work cooperatively with others and treat fellow employees with respect Benefits
