Overview
The Department of Music at the Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Composition (Commercial Music). We seek a creative, dynamic composer with significant professional experience in media scoring (e.g., film, television, online media, video games) and/or popular songwriting. Responsibilities
Engage in creative and professional activities, including building industry partnerships, producing new work for commercial applications, and fostering interdisciplinary collaborations within the school and university. Teach courses and lessons in music composition, specifically focusing on songwriting and/or scoring for film, television, video games, and online media platforms. Assess current curriculum offerings and develop a new commercial music program. Serve as the administrative leader of the commercial music program, which will include reviewing and revising curricula in media scoring and music production. Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students. Engage in service activities within the Department of Music, the university, and the music composition community at large.
