Sr Director, Supply Chain Logistics Operations Analyst
Gartner is seeking a Sr Director, Supply Chain Logistics Operations Analyst. This role is remote - US.
About this role:
Gartner is seeking a supply chain analyst with a proven track record in developing and executing logistics (transportation and warehousing) strategy and managing relationships with 3PLs, carriers and freight forwarders to deliver on-time and cost-effective operations. The key activities include advising clients during inquiry calls, generating strong and thought-leading insights for our clients, presenting at Gartner events, and supporting sales by speaking with prospective clients to demonstrate Gartner subject-matter expertise. Successful candidates will demonstrate expertise in planning and optimizing logistics activities for road, air, parcel and ocean freight operations and warehousing, optionally with responsibility for international logistics (import, export, customs compliance). Candidates that have additionally managed significant logistics operations in or across Asia would be preferred. Familiarity with logistics technologies will be desirable. Experience managing returns/reverse logistics operations would also be desired. Candidates with an operations background in third party logistics services will also be considered.
What you’ll do
Work with a cross-industry community of the world’s most influential supply chain practitioners and Gartner analysts.
Manage and develop content relating to end-to-end supply chain risk management and continuity planning with secondary coverage supporting supplier risk management.
Combine actionable insights with compelling research to support global Chief Supply Chain Officers and their teams.
Publish content based on fact-based, impactful research used by clients to enable action and advance priorities.
Conduct ongoing interaction with clients and prospects (meetings, conference calls, strategy sessions, and formal presentations).
Prepare and deliver high-value presentations and materials at Gartner events, industry conferences, and client briefings.
Drive client demand for advice, content, and presentations.
Assist Sales in selling and client retention by demonstrating the value of research.
Provide mentorship and support to team members; lead or participate in research community meetings and collaborate with peers.
Establish credibility as a thought leader representing Gartner’s research methodology and strategies.
What you’ll need to perform this job successfully
Located in the US (this position is home office based – Remote Worker).
Strong understanding of end-to-end supply chain concepts with senior-level knowledge of logistics operations and technology.
12+ years of experience in supply chain with broad expertise in logistics-related operations; ability to link logistics best practices to client objectives.
Ability to interact at all levels of an organization on logistics and business issues.
Ability to defend analysis in client interactions; excellent writing and presentation skills.
Strong analytical skills; ability to apply models, recognize patterns, and draw defendable conclusions.
Strategic, critical thinker who can multitask and deliver high-quality actionable advice on time; collaborative in a geographically diverse team.
Articulate and succinct communication skills; ability to explain complex ideas and present to large groups.
Domestic and international travel is possible – approximately 10-20%.
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, engineering, or related fields is required.
