Senior Associate, Supply Chain - Distribution & Logistics (Open to all U.S. locations) at Alvarez & Marsal (A&M). The PEPI (Private Equity Performance Improvement) practice focuses on serving middle market and large cap private equity firms to improve operating results at portfolio companies. The PEPI Supply Chain team analyzes and improves supply chain processes including strategic sourcing, procurement, logistics and distribution, and demand and supply planning, identifying value creation opportunities and delivering measurable EBITDA improvement. The PEPI practice works with private equity leadership to help identify, design, and implement solutions for portfolio companies. Our services include: Supply Chain Transformation Services, Manufacturing Operations Improvement, Interim Management, M&A Services, CFO Services, and more. Responsibilities for the Senior Associate role focus on delivering large, complex client engagements and developing deep functional skills. The Senior Associate will work closely with Private Equity leadership to design and implement business solutions. Responsibilities
Gain a comprehensive understanding of a client’s supply chain including manufacturing and distribution locations, baseline product flow and seasonality, operating costs, and key supply chain processes. Develop a structured approach to assessing potential improvement opportunities and define supply chain strategies and tactics to meet growth and financial objectives. Analyze supply chain network design and footprints, including baseline warehousing and distribution cost structures, capacity utilization, inventory flows, and network optimization opportunities. Assess optimal number and location of distribution centers, inventory flow strategies (e.g., ship from DC vs. stores), supplier drop-ship options, and stocking positions; develop high-level planning models for inventory optimization. Assist in sourcing events related to transportation and warehousing, including spend analyses, requirements, RFI/RFP processes, negotiations and contracting (3PL experience preferred). Identify opportunities to improve inventory planning processes and systems to optimize service levels and working capital. Develop transformation plans for transportation, freight optimization, warehousing and distribution, and create implementation plans with estimated benefits (OPEX, inventory, service delivery). Qualifications
4-7+ years of consulting or industry operating experience Previous advisory experience from a top-tier strategy firm, leading specialist, niche advisory firm, or Big-4 preferred Hands-on experience in at least one of: distribution and logistics network optimization, transportation and warehouse sourcing, 3PL operating experience, production and inventory planning Excellent fact-gathering and analytical skills, including business process mapping and quantitative analysis Flexibility to travel based on project requirements Bachelor’s degree required Professional Skills
Strong written, oral, and analytical skills Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills Structured project management (time, team and work-stream management) Initiative and drive; critical thinking; ability to deliver projects on time and on quality Flexible and creative thinking; client relationship building; excellent presentation skills Your Journey at A&M
