Responsibilities
Manage and lead in a multiunit capacity, with the ability to multitask and direct a larger team across two store locations.
Provide and model best-in-class guest service: greet guests, respond to questions/concerns promptly and courteously, assist guests with gaming needs, inform guests of promotions, recommend items, apply selling behaviors during every transaction, and circulate throughout the store to prioritize guests over tasks.
Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships to drive sales and repeat business.
Process guest purchases/returns using the POS system accurately, including handling cash and providing receipts.
Respond to guest comments or questions in person or by phone with professionalism.
Promote GameStop guest benefits (e.g., new title reservations, trade-in program, Pro Rewards).
Recruit, interview, hire, develop, and retain high-performing associates; ensure onboarding and training are completed prior to shifts.
Communicate regularly with store associates and District Manager to implement initiatives; train staff on policies, procedures, practices, and guidelines; supervise and delegate tasks.
Schedule associates to meet guest service goals and ensure appropriate breaks; manage staffing levels to optimize service.
Approve payroll, manage time off, and verify compensation for time worked.
Provide recognition and feedback to associates; document performance in the HR system.
Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and merchandising per guidelines; ensure equipment is in working order.
Ensure Omni-Channel orders are fulfilled and shipped daily.
Conduct inventory counts, restock merchandise, and maintain organized shelves and displays.
Protect company assets via inventory control and loss prevention practices; inspect packages as appropriate at closing.
Lead the team to meet or exceed sales, profit, and shrink goals; perform administrative duties for goal achievement.
Count, balance, and reconcile daily transactions; manage closeout paperwork and daily bank deposits according to guidelines.
Verify shipments for discrepancies; conduct inventories and communicate findings up to District Manager.
Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls accurately; label boxes with packing lists.
Maintain associate and guest safety; report injuries per company guidelines.
Maintain store records and ensure manuals are up to date.
Form professional partnerships with appropriate military personnel if store is on a military base.
Adhere to GameStop policies and the Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.
Qualifications
Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.
At least 1 year of retail management experience required.
At least 3 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management/leadership experience preferred.
Video game knowledge preferred.
Key Skills and Abilities
Outgoing, welcoming personality with strong people skills; provide genuine assistance to every guest.
Clear verbal and written communication, bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Ability to lead a team, work independently, and perform tasks in a timely manner.
Meet leadership performance expectations, including attendance, appearance, safety, and respectful workplace conduct.
Operate the POS system; basic math and organizational skills.
Complete required paperwork accurately and follow instructions; execute financial tasks per policy.
Adapt to a fast-paced, changing environment; work up to 40 hours per week with possible extended hours, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime.
Demonstrate reliability, trustworthiness, and good judgment; able to work alone and stand/move for extended periods; lift up to 30 lbs and perform physical tasks as needed.
