Overview The Associate Director position oversees a combined business service including Hospital/Health System Retail, Specialty and Specialty pharmacy accreditation, Patient Resource specialists, PBM enrollment and programming such as Vaccine Clinic and Meds to Beds delivery.
Key Functions
Operations: Leads the development and implementation of administrative processes to maximize operational efficiency and quality outcomes. Applies effective project management skills to meet timelines, service levels, and within established budget limit.
Establishes cohesive and consistent pharmacy operations and standards across outpatient retail and specialty pharmacy service locations. Provides clear direction and communication to department leaders.
Participates in development and administration of policies and operating procedures.
Assists in formulating the budget and ensuring department operates within budget and in accordance with financial performance standards. Manages physical resources including inventory control, automation/technology, and property maintenance.
Leads human resource functions including staffing, performance management, professional development, succession planning, and position requests.
Quality and Regulatory
Administers and oversees a quality assurance and improvement program, with emphasis in pharmacy compliance to Board of Pharmacy, accreditation requirements and all applicable regulatory agency guidelines and requirements for each state of licensure.
Establishes an ongoing focus on implementing best practices for quality and performance improvement, continuous monitoring, oversight, and performance improvement.
Ensures that internal processes comply with institutional guidelines and regulatory agencies to maintain the integrity of the department and institution.
Strategy
Assists the director with development, alignment, and execution of short- and long-range strategic plans and initiatives across retail and specialty pharmacy services.
Participate with the director and managers in programs and initiatives, ensuring pharmacy service support of institutional directives, strategy, and goals.
Establishes and maintains relationships, providing leadership on appropriate interdisciplinary institutional and divisional committees with key internal and external stakeholders, including executive leaders and vendors to support, Pharmacy Service delivery across pharmacy operations.
Assists director and managers in leadership collaboration of new projects or service development, growth, and expansion.

Education Required: B.S.Pharm or Pharm.D.; Preferred: ASHP accredited residency or fellowship, and MS degree in pharmacy or MBA healthcare management or administration.
Experience Required: 5 years of management experience in a large community or teaching hospital with OP retail and specialty pharmacy services. Preferred: 7 years of management experience in a large community or teaching hospital with OP retail and specialty pharmacy services.
Licensure Required: Registered Pharmacist in the State of Texas. Preferred: Registered Pharmacist Licensed in additional states of service, i.e., Louisiana, Oklahoma.
Supervision Given Various staff assigned to the pharmacy patient care operations.
