Overview

Associate Director, Gift Planning role at University of Chicago within Alumni Relations and Development (ARD) Gift Planning. The Office of Gift Planning specializes in philanthropic support for the University through charitable bequests, gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts, charitable lead trusts, gifts of real estate, in kind gifts and gifts of complex assets. This position has a hybrid work schedule with weekly in-office presence at Hyde Park, 5235 South Harper Court. Responsibilities

Secures planned gifts from University alumni and friends. Proactively seeks and identifies new planned giving prospects. Manages a portfolio of planned gift prospects with the goal of securing new and additional commitments (planned and outright). Meets contact, visit and solicitation goals to sustain external fundraising activity. Travels to meet with potential donors. Plans and implements cultivation strategies and solicitations of deferred gifts. Qualifies and cultivates prospects responding to marketing materials or other portals. Develops strategies to increase planned gift activity across assigned units, including portfolio analysis, strategy sessions, training, reporting, goal-setting, and partnership with other gift officers. Contributes ideas to raise awareness of gift planning opportunities and drive activity. Maintains high-quality communications (written and verbal), including planned gift illustrations, tax/financial calculations, and personalized consultations. Develops content expertise in gift planning vehicles, estate and tax planning, investing, financial planning, philanthropic planning, and economic climate. Stays informed on University initiatives, current events, and history. Works with high-level donors and University colleagues to secure gifts, designs marketing programs, and maintains cross-University communication. Performs other related work as needed. Qualifications

Education : Minimum: college or university degree in a related field. Work Experience : 5-7 years in a related job discipline with knowledge and skills relevant to the role. Certifications : Driver's License - multiple states; additional certifications or advanced degrees in financial planning, law, business, finance, or related fields are preferred. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree or advanced degree. Minimum five years of professional experience in institutional advancement, development, alumni relations, sales, financial planning, estate planning or similar field. Experience managing a portfolio of donors or clients. Technical skills: knowledge of the University donor management system and Microsoft Office Suite; ability to learn internal tools quickly. Technical Skills or Knowledge : Demonstrated ability to learn the internal workings of the University and its donor management systems; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Working Conditions

Hybrid work schedule with weekly in-office presence. Standard office environment; travel to campus and other locations for University business. Occasional evenings and weekends as needed. Location: Hyde Park at 5235 South Harper Court. Application Documents
