Overview
Food & Beverage Manager position at Donohoe Hospitality Services based in Washington, DC. The role oversees the hotel’s food and beverage operations, including dining outlets, catering services, and bar operations. This position requires strategic planning, hands-on leadership, and a focus on guest satisfaction, financial performance, cost control, and team engagement. Responsibilities
Supervise and manage the daily operations of the food and beverage department. Ensure quality and presentation meet standards on a daily basis. Respond personally to guest comments and complaints to ensure timely resolution. Assist and supervise purchasing and inventory functions. Train staff for job competency and ensure awareness of hotel policies, service standards, and brand standards for service and cleanliness. Monitor department to ensure brand requirements are met in both kitchen and front of house. Implement and monitor staffing levels to meet guest satisfaction and cost control targets. Assist and supervise weekly scheduling to meet staffing needs based on forecast. Review standards to ensure compliance with brand and hotel requirements. Address staff inquiries and issues in a timely and professional manner. Oversee training, supervising, and monitoring of food sanitation and safety procedures in kitchen and dining areas. Coordinate with Sales and Housekeeping to ensure banquets meet BEO requirements and guest satisfaction. Demonstrate positive leadership to inspire employees to meet and exceed standards and guest expectations. Hire, train, manage, develop, and evaluate all food and beverage staff including managers, supervisors, and line employees. Ensure compliance with hotel and brand policies, as well as local, state, and federal laws and regulations. Demonstrate leadership as outlined in the Leadership Job Requirement Chart. Education and Experience
Previous food & beverage experience. Previous supervisor or management experience. Certificate in Food Sanitation is a plus. Skills and Abilities
Clear verbal and written communication skills. Certified food handler. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Ability to motivate and train employees in guest services. Additional Responsibilities
Adhere to all hotel work rules, policies, and procedures, including those in the employee handbook. The hotel operates 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Department schedules must accommodate fluctuating business demands; employees may be asked to work shifts other than those they prefer. Short Term Goals
Help improve guest satisfaction scores to 90% or better by year end. Develop action plans for the department when departmental guest satisfaction scores fall below last year or the brand average. Monitor points of sale costs versus budget to control costs and payroll based on occupancy. Benefits
