Overview The ReStore Manager is responsible for the general oversight of day-to-day operations of a Habitat for Humanity ReStore and the management of staff and volunteers at their location. The ReStore is a retail business that sells donated building materials, furniture, appliances, and other products, and the revenue from those sales supports Habitat’s mission to build homes, communities, and hope. The ReStore Manager is responsible for the overall performance of their ReStore location, with priority on the acquisition, marketing, and sale of quality donated items; planning and execution of effective and efficient store processes; and the managerial duties such as hiring, training, supervision and performance management of both volunteers and staff.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities Management of store operations:

Perform opening and closing of ReStore for scheduled hours.

Perform daily sales/cash register reconciliation and deposits.

Oversee the coordination of daily and weekly pickup and delivery schedules with ReStore Donations Coordinator.

Oversee display and organization of showroom sales areas jointly with other ReStore staff to ensure all items are properly priced and ticketed for sale.

Oversee selection and pricing of collectible items in-store.

Assist receiving staff as required to maintain orderly flow of items.

Manage and track inventory.

Leadership And Supervision Of ReStore Staff And Volunteers

Plan and coordinate staff and volunteer schedules.

Assign tasks as needed.

Provide direction, oversight, and feedback.

Manage and document staff and volunteer performance.

Work closely with the Volunteer Coordinator to attract and retain volunteers.

Hire and train staff members on policy, procedures, and programs.

Maintain a training program for new volunteers - personally training new volunteers or assigning a staff member to train the new volunteers.

Ensuring Safe, Efficient, And Risk-free Environment

Review maintenance and safety of all ReStore vehicles with Safety & Facilities Manager.

Ensure ReStore is free of potential safety and health hazards.

Enforce safe work practices for all ReStore staff and volunteers.

Act as point person with contractors for all facilities maintenance.

Ensure that exterior of building is safe and clear of hazards, including snow removal from sidewalks and stairs.

Oversight Of Product Procurement

Work with ReStore Director and Communications Manager to develop and implement marketing campaigns for increasing donations and sales.

Determine and enforce criteria and prioritization for donation acceptance.

Review and follow up regularly with Sustainable Partnership Coordinator on calls, visits, letters, and meetings with potential business donors.

Other Duties

Participate in fundraising and celebration/recognition events.

Act as an ambassador to promote the mission and values of Habitat for Humanity.

Attend in-person and online seminars provided by HFHI and the ReStore Support Group (RSG).

Periodically visit ReStores across the region to stay up to date on new ideas for upgrading store processes and programs.

Work with ReStore Director and the Communications Manager on advertising, email blasts, text messaging alerts and social media projects.

Regular reporting for Human Resources, Finance and Marketing.

Other duties as assigned.

Requirements SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, & QUALIFICATIONS

Enthusiasm for the mission and vision of Greater Rochester Habitat for Humanity.

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in retail sales with at least 1 year of Department or Store Management required.

Self-motivated, reliable, and enthusiastic: natural team leader who thrives working with people with diverse backgrounds and capabilities, and can foster a positive environment for all staff, volunteers, and customers.

Ability to effectively lead, supervise, and coach staff performance.

Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.

Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook and Excel.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Commitment to a safe working environment.

Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Must possess a Valid New York State Driver’s License and clean driving record.

Ability to operate office equipment, as well as warehouse equipment.

Experience working with volunteers, a plus.

Experience driving a box truck, a plus.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required

Certification or degree in retail management, a plus

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Sitting, walking, and/or standing for extended periods.

Climbing, bending, and kneeling.

Regularly moving up to 50 pounds individually, and heavier items with assistance.

This position requires good manual dexterity and coordination.

Must be able to frequently communicate in English (verbal), working as part of a team and supporting staff and volunteers.
