Overview
Reporting to the Director of Sourcing, the Americas Logistics Lead will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing key processes, contracts, third-party resources, and HMH resources relating to zone management. The selected candidate will work with the Global Category Leader and other Sourcing personnel on key HMH initiatives to improve on-time delivery, mitigate cost, and ensure quality standards are met for all orders. Responsibilities
Develop and implement processes to manage foreign trade zone (“FTZ”) admissions at HMH facilities located in Houston and Mobile, Alabama. Lead the implementation effort of the select Inventory, Control, and Recordkeeping System (“ICRS”) software package to manage FTZ qualifying inventory. Coordinate with the Global Logistics leadership to drive cost savings, efficacy improvements, and timely delivery of materials and products. Negotiate key freight agreements with third-party logistics providers to secure favorable rate, terms, and conditions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sourcing, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to understand and meet logistics requirements. Monitor and evaluate logistics provider performance, addressing any issues related to quality, delivery, or cost. Identify and develop new logistics provider relationships to ensure a reliable and competitive logistics network. Conduct market research and analysis to stay informed about industry trends, pricing, and availability of logistics services. Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and ethical standards in all logistics activities. Prepare and present reports on logistics performance, cost savings, and other key metrics to senior management. Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the logistics function to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service quality. Travel as needed to logistics provider locations and HMH sites to support logistics activities and provider development. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline; Supply Chain, Engineering, or Operations Management Minimum of 10 years of Logistics and related category management experience Experience in drilling related oil and gas manufacturing, maritime, industrial manufacturing, or automotive industry required Experience working in or with an ERP governed business environment (SAP, Oracle, etc.) Preferred Qualifications
At least 3 years of direct Foreign Trade Zone management Proven experience in trade compliance and FTZ regulatory requirements (U.S. CBP, import/export regulations) Active U.S. Customs Broker License (or willingness to obtain within 12 months of hire) Formal training and certification in trade compliance, FTZ administration, or customs/import-export fields (e.g., Certified Export Specialist, CUSECO, NCBFAA) Demonstrated experience with HTS classification, country of origin determination, duty drawback, or recordkeeping compliance Direct experience with FTZ application, activation, or compliance audits Master’s Degree in Business Administration International supplier management experience Management Consulting (Big Four or Business Strategy Firm) Additional Information
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without employer sponsorship for employment visa status No relocation assistance provided by HMH Willing and able to travel domestic or internationally as needed, up to 20% per annum Location
