San Francisco State University, School of Nursing offers an exciting opportunity for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Pediatric Nursing beginning August 2026. We seek a colleague whose teaching and research interests include pediatric nursing and/or nursing education.
We are especially interested in qualified candidates with a demonstrated commitment -- through their research, teaching, and service -- to the diversity and excellence of our academic nursing programs, experience and interest in simulation and an APRN background.
Required Qualifications
Ph.D. or DNP in nursing or related area from an accredited program, and a BSN or MSN if a doctoral degree is not in nursing. Terminal degree must be completed by the first day of employment.
Record of working and communicating effectively with colleagues and students
One year of continuous, full-time experience in direct patient care practice as a registered nurse within the last five years
Upon hire, the faculty member must be licensed as a registered nurse in California.
Evidence of/or potential for excellence in teaching, mentoring, and engaging diverse students
Demonstrated expertise in the area of pediatric nursing
Evidence of potential to produce scholarly work.
Responsibilities
The position requires graduate and/or undergraduate teaching in pediatric nursing, mentoring and advising graduate and/or undergraduate students, developing an active ongoing scholarship program in one’s area of specialty, and ongoing committee and service assignments.
Compensation
The Assistant Professor (Academic Year) salary range is $98,000 to $101,000 annually (12 monthly payments per academic year). Salary offered is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
