Malcolm X College is seeking a Full-Time Faculty member to teach Nursing - Mental Health. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in the classroom by developing and using effective teaching strategies that meet students’ diverse needs and engage students in critical thinking and problem-solving. The mission of Malcolm X College is to provide accessible liberal arts and health-focused education that fosters personal and professional achievement, with core values of accountability, community, diversity, empowerment, learning, and respect. Reporting to an assigned Academic Dean, the Full-time Faculty position conducts formal classes and meets all lab objectives, when applicable, for assigned courses. Faculty teach and evaluate students, prepare and revise course syllabi and other educational materials, support the mission of the College, and contribute to the overall operation of the College in a community-college environment. Responsibilities

Prepares syllabi that include student learning objectives and student learning outcomes. Teaches on-campus classes in a manner consistent with the philosophy, policies, and guidelines of the college. Demonstrates excellence in teaching and a commitment to integrating new technologies in the learning process. Engages, inspires, motivates, and empowers students to succeed. Develops reciprocity and cooperation among students; encourages active learning. Employs a variety of teaching methods (lectures, discussions, demonstrations, projects, and field trips) to meet diverse learning needs and optimize student outcomes. Works individually with students needing specific assistance in reaching academic, personal and career goals; models respect for all students and conveys confidence in every student’s ability to learn. Provides regular, useful feedback to students; evaluates and documents performance using established methods and records grades promptly. Develops and designs an assessment program ensuring students’ application of concepts and skills learned in class and through external coursework. Stays abreast of innovations and trends in the discipline relevant to pedagogy and technology. Participates in professional development to enhance teaching talents. Attends departmental meetings and contributes to campus and District committees. Adheres to CCC’s student-centered philosophy; fosters student involvement and commitment. Ability to work in a culturally diverse work environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Qualifications

Completed M.S.N. degree Doctorate in nursing preferred (DNP or PhD) Current unencumbered Illinois RN license Two years of experience in clinical nursing Minimum of one year of college-level teaching experience preferred in nursing and one year of recent clinical nursing practice Excellent verbal and written communication skills Blackboard learning management system preferred Salary Range: $82,000 - $85,000. Offered salary will be determined by the respective collective bargaining agreement and the applicant’s education. Benefits information is available at the City Colleges of Chicago benefits page.
