Department: Retail Reports To (Title): Retail Store Manager Position Type: FLSA - Non-Exempt General Purpose

The Assistant Store Manager will coordinate and support activities to optimize store revenues and savings, improve productivity, and ensure the delivery of outstanding service to all customers. She/he will be responsible for the efficient and profitable management of the retail location when the store manager is unavailable. Responsibilities

Operate in accordance with the established hours of business and ensure proper staffing Maintain high standards for general store conditions Meet performance standards and goals regularly Control and minimize store expenses Maintain a supply of cash and change sufficient to meet daily needs Keep premises safe for customers and employees Foster excellent customer relations and train employees to greet, thank, or converse with customers and donors Schedule interviews and assist in hiring store employees Conduct initial and recurrent training, or training in new policies/procedures Assist store manager with employee performance evaluations and discussions Assist in recommending raises for employees Enforce corporate personnel, loss prevention, and operational policies Investigate and resolve employee complaints or conflicts Ensure proper recording of hours worked by employees Process, price, tag, hang, and display merchandise to maximize sales Recommend ways to increase sales and efficiency Develop and expand local donor base Establish and monitor sound cash-handling procedures Prepare, review, and/or submit sales reports, donor logs, cash reports, and petty cash requests Answer employees’ questions about policies and procedures Schedule and conduct periodic store-employee meetings Maintain appropriate stock levels and organize back-room production area Train employees on security and loss prevention policies Prepare and review banking documents and store reports Payroll reconciliation in the absence of the Store Manager Qualifications

Some college preferred. High school diploma, GED equivalency required, or its equivalent in business or marketing Two (2) years of supervisory experience and two (2) years of retail experience Experience supervising and training direct reports in all aspects of store operations Ability to work flexible hours Skills

Outstanding organizational skills Ability to calculate amounts Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office applications Scope of Responsibility & Positions Supervised

Directly supervises sales people and production staff Reports directly to Retail Manager Special Working Conditions

Work environment is mostly indoors; donated goods may be dusty or soiled May be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment
