The Student Support Services (STEM) program is a federally funded TRIO project through the U.S. Department of Education. The Project Coordinator/STEM Advisor provides coordination, advising, and academic support services for eligible STEM majors who are first-generation college students, low-income, and/or students with disabilities. The position is responsible for coordinating program activities, monitoring student progress, and ensuring that participants receive services designed to improve persistence, retention, and graduation in STEM fields. The Project Coordinator/STEM Advisor will maintain accurate records, support compliance with federal reporting requirements, and deliver intrusive academic advising, workshops, and career/graduate school preparation tailored to STEM pathways. Required Qualifications

Master’s degree in a STEM discipline, higher education, counseling, or related field required. Minimum three years of full-time experience in academic advising, student support services, or program coordination. Experience working with TRIO or other federally funded programs preferred. Experience mentoring, teaching, or supporting underrepresented students in STEM strongly preferred. Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Education/Experience Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of barriers to persistence and graduation for first-generation, low-income, and underrepresented STEM students. Practical knowledge of academic advising, student development, and success strategies in STEM education. Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain accurate, confidential records. Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and external partners to support STEM student success. Flexibility to work evenings/weekends as needed for program activities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and student data management systems (Blumen preferred). Physical Demands

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES : Provides day-to-day coordination of SSS-STEM activities and services in alignment with federal regulations and institutional guidelines. Implements program policies and procedures to ensure compliance with grant objectives. Provides intrusive academic advising, mentoring, and career counseling to STEM participants. Assists students with course planning, graduate/professional school preparation, and career exploration in STEM disciplines. Develops and facilitates workshops on STEM study skills, test-taking, research opportunities, and graduate school readiness. Coordinates tutoring, mentoring, and supplemental instruction for STEM participants. Maintains and compiles student data for federal and institutional reporting (including Blumen database management). Prepares periodic reports and records on program activities, student progress, and outcomes. Coordinates recruitment, eligibility review, selection, and orientation of program participants. Completes comprehensive needs assessments and develops individual academic success plans for participants. Tracks and monitors student academic performance, retention, and graduation rates. Assists with the development and implementation of summer bridge and enrichment activities. Supports the budget administration process by tracking expenditures related to STEM programming. Trains, supervises, and evaluates part-time staff, tutors, and mentors assigned to the SSS-STEM project. Performs other duties as assigned to support program success.
