Overview

Senior Civil Engineer role with WSP in the U.S. for the Atlanta, GA office. The Civil Engineer will be a key contributor to the Transportation Team, working on GDOT projects and a wide variety of highway and roadway design initiatives. Responsibilities

Assist with project tasks for conceptual and preliminary engineering and final design activities, as well as development of construction plans, calculations and specifications. Coordinate with other design disciplines such as structures, hydraulics, traffic, environmental, and utilities. Participate hands-on in the preparation of Plans, Specifications and Estimates (PS&E). Assist with the development of layouts, sketches, plans, specifications and estimates standards and guidelines, correspondence, and/or prepare reports. Develop engineering skills including horizontal and vertical geometry design, 3D corridor modeling, drainage and erosion control design, and cost estimating. Determine methods for collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site, surveys, blueprints, GIS data, subsurface utility information, maps, hydrologic analysis, geotechnical data, and other matrices for project development, design, and construction. Perform professional civil engineering work and conduct research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, resources, infrastructure, and transportation channels to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, and permits. Develop construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates; preparing construction safety and phasing plans and updating infrastructure layout plans requiring coordination with owners, other disciplines, sub-consultants, and clients. Incorporate advanced modeling techniques, concept development, design requirements, and operating strategies to account for safety and functionality of end-users and transportation systems, including future-ready solutions with civil engineering design standards. Work individually or as part of a cross-functional team to execute project work on multiple concurrent projects, lay out installations, establish reference points/elevations/grades, calculate costs and quantities, and ensure compliance with specifications, permits, and regulatory documentation. Prepare data and visualizations such as tables, charts, calculations, and illustrations for interpretation or presentation of data, findings, or analyses. Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate measurements, analysis, and reporting. Assist with development and scoping of medium-sized projects. Provide guidance and training to entry-level engineers. Prepare technical reports and presentations to explain research, findings, and recommendations related to design and construction issues or opportunities. Assist in data analysis from field investigations and contribute to action plans for moderate- to high-level risk mitigation activities. Prepare and implement site Health and Safety Plans (HASPs). Comply with regulatory requirements for data integrity, documentation, procedures, training, monitoring, and retention. Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients professionally. Remain current in latest civil engineering techniques and practices. Collaborate with other engineers and planners on projects with infrastructure authorities on Federal, State, regional, and locally funded improvements. Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds and resources and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct. Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs. Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or closely related discipline. 5 to 7 years of relevant post-education experience in engineering and prior civil design experience. Engineer in Training Certification. Experience with design teams on GDOT and municipal projects (highway, roadway geometric design, roadway plan production, and drainage design). Knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices, processes, design/build, and permitting related issues. Strong interpersonal and communication skills for engineering and non-engineering audiences. Effective self-leadership with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities. Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks, follow instructions, work independently, and comply with policies. Moderate proficiency with technical writing, office software, math, and spreadsheets. Experience with discipline-specific design software (e.g., MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads). Working knowledge of civil construction laws, codes, regulations, and record-keeping. Project management experience with small to mid-level projects, including tracking hours and expenses. Ability to plan and conduct inspections and investigations on construction and design aspects of facilities or infrastructure. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to apply technical knowledge to data and testing results. Ability to coordinate with field personnel to ensure safety and efficiency. Proven commitment to workplace safety and compliance with health and harassment policies. Ability to work flexible schedules as project requirements may extend beyond a typical workweek. Occasional travel may be required depending on project needs. Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Engineering. Essential Professional Licensure/Certification. Experience managing small to mid-size projects. 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) preferred. Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training desired. About WSP
