The Role Halycon is seeking a motivated
Business Development Representative (Federal)
to join our growing sales team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for driving new business opportunities within the
Federal government market , engaging with civilian and defense agencies, and generating qualified pipeline for our sales organization. The ideal candidate has strong communication skills, thrives in proactive prospecting, and is eager to develop expertise in federal sales cycles while supporting Halycon’s mission to stop ransomware. Responsibilities
Lead Generation: Prospect, identify, and qualify potential federal customers through inbound and outbound outreach (calls, emails, LinkedIn). Client Engagement: Engage with decision-makers across civilian and defense agencies to understand cybersecurity challenges and ransomware protection needs. Sales Support: Partner with Sales and Marketing to execute lead generation campaigns and outreach strategies tailored for the federal market. Pipeline Management: Maintain an accurate pipeline of opportunities and manage lead data within Salesforce. Educate & Qualify: Share Halycon’s value proposition and qualify leads for hand-off to Account Executives. Nurturing: Consistently follow up with prospects to drive engagement and move opportunities forward through long and complex federal sales cycles. Market Intelligence: Stay current on federal cybersecurity initiatives, compliance mandates, budget cycles, and competitive landscape to communicate value effectively. Requirements
1–3 years of experience in sales or business development, preferably in cybersecurity or technology. Prior federal/public sector exposure strongly preferred. Familiarity with inbound and outbound business development tactics and KPIs. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal). Experience with CRM and sales systems (Salesforce, Salesloft/Outreach, ZoomInfo, LinkedIn Navigator, Gong, plus federal tools such as GovWin, GovNav, and SAM.gov). Self-starter who can thrive both independently and within a collaborative team. Proven record of achieving or exceeding sales activity targets. Benefits
