Sr Landscape Planner/ Business Development

consultant to join a small independent design group in

Northern or Southern CA

– a team consisting of landscape architects, urban designers/planners, arborists, and transportation & urban planning experts. This role will help grow our planning and design services for projects ranging from community master planning to public and private-realm landscape and urban design projects. You will be responsible for supporting our group through winning work and managing projects, with a focus on expanding our group’s capabilities and project experience in community, park, and/or campus planning. Additional responsibilities may include managing projects that include planting and irrigation design, site planning and design, and graphic-rich presentation material development. Responsibilities Leadership and Direction: Communicate the actions needed to implement the function's strategy and business plan within the team; explain the relationship to the broader organization's mission, vision, and values; motivate people to commit to these and to do extraordinary things to achieve local business goals. Strategic Planning: Develop and/or deliver elements of a strategic planning system with guidance from senior colleagues. Engineering Standards Specification: Analyze information, draft engineering standards and specifications, and evaluate the effectiveness of those standards within own engineering discipline to ensure work of the required quality is delivered and to inform engineering work in the organization and/or of its suppliers, contractors, and consultants. Improvement/Innovation: Identify shortcomings in existing business practices, then suggest and implement improvements while developing and delivering projects or a work stream within the organization's change management program. Project Management: Manage a portfolio of projects while reporting to senior colleagues. Stakeholder Engagement: Develop stakeholder engagement by identifying stakeholders; by finding out their needs, issues, and concerns; and by reacting to these needs, issues, and concerns to support the communication of business information and decisions. Budgeting: Develop and/or deliver budget plans with guidance from senior colleagues. Performance Management: Manage and report on the performance of a substantial, diverse team; set appropriate performance objectives for direct reports or project/account team members and hold individuals accountable for achieving them; take appropriate corrective action where necessary to ensure the achievement of team/personal objectives. Organizational Capability Building: Use the organization's formal development framework to identify the team's individual development needs. Education Professional undergraduate or graduate degree from a program in landscape architecture, architecture, planning, urban design, or related field required Experience 10+ years’ experience in Landscape Architecture Project Management experience required Park or campus master planning experience required Architecture or Urban Design experience a plus Technical Requirements Autocad required Sketchup or equivalent 3D modeling required Microsoft Office required Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, and In-design) required LandFX a plus Lumion or other rendering software a plus Revu BlueBeam a plus ArcMap or QGIS a plus Revit a plus Professional Requirements Strong planning and project design talent Ability to win and manage new project work Drafting and digital modeling to a professional level Strong graphic design and communication skills Strong writing and editing skills for planning documents and reports Technical familiarity with processes and workflow for architecture, landscape architecture, and/or urban design Application Requirements Personal Portfolio or Project Sheets, minimum 5 projects (20 MB Max PDF or Web-based) Resume/CV (PDF) Cover Letter Salary Range: $120,000-$200,000 based on experience As a multicultural organization, we encourage individual achievement and recognize the strength of a diverse workforce.
