The Director, Logistics oversees the drivers and receiving staff by managing the receipt, storage and delivery of all product. all transportation responsibilities to ensure timely and efficient transportation of donated food products. Cultivate a team environment to serve the organization’s overall mission by inspiring collaborative efforts among the Operations team and empowering individuals to achieve goals. Supervise the Receiving and Logistics staff. Coordinate activities with Inventory, Food Industry, Agency and Volunteer Services teams. Assist in developing an annual expense budget for receiving and logistics staff; manage overtime and temporary worker levels. Maintain safety audits, inspections and training. Monitor compliance with TAFB, Feeding America, AIB and OSHA safety standards Manage special food donation and distribution needs resulting from emergency. Assist with developing and training on Standard Operating Procedures. Allocate appropriate storage space and coordinate receipt of product in a safe, efficient and sanitary manner. Transportation responsibilities is to ensure timely and efficient transportation of donated products. Oversee daily vehicle inspections for safety; report damage and required repairs/ maintenance to Facilities Manager. Exemplify TAFB Core Values of Lead, Care, Innovate and Respect. Essential Responsibilities
Cultivate a team environment to serve the organization’s overall mission by inspiring collaborative efforts among the Operations team and empowering individuals to achieve goals. Supervise the Receiving and Logistics staff. Coordinate activities with Inventory, Food Industry, Agency and Volunteer Services teams. Assist in developing an annual expense budget for receiving and logistics staff; manage overtime and temporary worker levels. Maintain safety audits, inspections and training. Job Qualifications
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 6-10 years years of experience, with 3-5 years serving in a supervisory role; strong leadership presence.
Team Development & Management
Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality. Mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach. Establish and monitor staff performance and development goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities and conduct annual performance appraisals.
Recruit and manage Logistics team.
Technical Proficiencies
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, warehouse management and inventory control software; forklift certification
Communication Skills Excellence in speaking, typing and explaining information; ability to respond to inquiries and complaints in a tactful and helpful manner Other Competencies
High degree of accuracy and attention to detail; self-motivated, cooperative, flexible; compassion for our mission
Physical Requirements And Work Environment
Works in office and warehouse environment
Frequent standing, walking, sitting, lifting and pulling up to 50 pounds
Requires work schedule flexibility with occasional weekend and evening availability
May encounter occasional exposure to fumes and/or airborne particles, and hear moderate noise from office and warehouse equipment Seniority level
