Turner & Townsend Heery is seeking an
Assistant Project Manager
responsible for medium to large sized projects for our Chicago-area public school and government clients. Responsibilities
Initiating, coordinating, managing, and accomplishing the design for all assigned projects. Ensures compliance with Design Standards, Code Compliance, Sustainability Requirements and provides Construction Phasing and Implementation. Manages all facets of project management (budget, schedule, procurement, quality & risk) for projects. Reads, understands, and applies standard documents affecting design projects, including agreements/contracts, leases, work letters, project charters, surveys and drawings. Develops Design Task Orders based on approved scope. Gathers design team proposals, reviews for compliance with Task Order, reviews cost proposals and man-hour projections, schedule milestones, insurance requirements and other legal requirements. Manages Submittal and Review Process through typical project milestones (Program Validation, Basis of Design, 35% Schematic Design, 65% Design Development, 95% Construction Documents, 100% Issue for Bid Sets). Implements communication plan for meetings and written reports/meeting minutes to keep client and project resources informed. Facilitates project meetings and implements project documentation governance aligned with company and client requirements. Ensures project data integrity and timely, coordinated documentation. Tracks progress against goals, budgets, and schedules; reports status and variances; creates action plans to meet objectives. Implements change management routines to assess change requests, obtain client approvals, and issue change orders; assesses impacts to scope, budget, schedule, quality and risk. Demonstrates knowledge of projects and project management within the context of business results. Other duties as assigned. *SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, where applicable. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, or similar field, or equivalent experience. Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Assistant Project Manager, Project Engineer, or similar role, in assisting or supervising construction projects of increasing complexity. Facility construction experience is preferred. Some experience in CSA (civil, structural, architectural) and MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing). Detail-oriented with strong work ethic; skilled in data processing and analytics. Experience with MS Excel and MS Projects is preferred. Ability to solve advanced problems and work with complex options; strong analytical and quantitative skills with proven experience in developing strategic recommendations. Ability to read and understand architectural drawings; knowledge of contracts and construction practices. Additional Information
Salary range for this full-time role: $65K-$85K per year.
Ranges are determined by role and level and represent a good faith effort to provide a fair and equitable salary. This range reflects base salary only, not total compensation.
