North Carolina Central University is seeking a Deputy Chief of Police to provide crucial support to the Chief of Police in overseeing and managing all aspects of campus law enforcement and security operations.
The primary purpose of the Deputy Chief of Police is to contribute to the strategic planning, emergency preparedness, community engagement, and leadership development initiatives of the university police department. The Deputy Chief of Police plays a pivotal role in ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of the university community while fostering a positive and collaborative relationship between law enforcement and campus stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
Analyzes and assesses trends in the surrounding community to effectively direct operations.
Utilizes existing programs, policies, and operations to accomplish University or Departmental strategic initiatives.
Responds promptly and effectively to deploy resources in emergency situations with delegated authority from the Chief of Police.
Develops annual goals and objectives for assigned divisions.
Assists with the Department’s business continuity/emergency response plan.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice or Management and 10 years of command experience and/or ten years of supervisory experience in law enforcement at the equivalent rank of Commander.
Successful candidates should have successfully graduated from a North Carolina Basic Law Enforcement Training course or currently hold certification as a law enforcement officer in their respective state.
