UNSW The School of Optometry & Vision Science aims to advance vision and eye health in society through world-class, innovative, multidisciplinary education and research. The Post-doctoral fellow is part of a dynamic team focused on developing novel anti-angiogenic and antifibrotic therapies for age-related macular degeneration (AMD), led by Dr Daisy Shu in the UNSW Retinal Research Group. The Post-doctoral fellow will play a central role in executing the research plan, from in vitro mechanistic studies to in vivo disease models, with the goal of identifying and validating new drug candidates that can transform AMD management and reduce the treatment burden of intravitreal injections. Key Responsibilities

Conduct high-quality wet laboratory research, including testing novel therapeutic candidates using in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo experimental models. Prepare, analyse, and interpret experimental data, ensuring reproducibility and rigour. Prepare and submit animal and human ethics applications as required. Disseminate findings through peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, and project reports. Contribute to supervision and training of honours and HDR students within the group, as required. Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary collaborators to deliver project milestones. Requirements

A PhD in biomedical sciences, optometry, vision science, ophthalmology, pharmacology, or a related discipline. Demonstrated expertise in in vivo mouse models, with preference for experience in ocular models. Strong technical skills in cell culture, microscopy, molecular biology, and immunohistochemistry. Evidence of high-quality research output, including publications and conference presentations. What We Offer
